After closing for 2 weeks for an interior refurb the pub now has a fresh and clean new look. The creation of a proper snug is part of the change and is available for private hire for small gatherings or family occasions. The rear barn has also undergone refurbishment and is now a wonderful room dating back to the 15th Century with oak beams and flagstone floor folding doors open out on to the rear courtyard and river Stour beyond. The barn forms part of the restaurant but can also be made available for small functions and parties of up to 20 - 25 people.

Named after probably Broadstairs's most famous previous resident, The Charles Dickens pub and dining rooms in Broadstairs had a complete refurbishment and re opened in the summer of 2012. This is one of the largest pubs in Broadstairs, with the main bar downstairs and the dining room and bars upstairs commanding excellent views of Viking Bay. The Michelin Starred, Fordwich Arms, located in the smallest town in England, dates as far back as 1828. Had the Sunday pork roast. It was amazing, from the roast potatoes to the cauliflower cheese. The staff was very friendly. Highly recommended 👌

Modern restaurant with a good buzz and helpful attentive staff. The food is plentiful and well presented. The wings were crispy in a delicious sauce, we had the combo. Crackling was crispy and puffy with spicy seasoning, the smoked meats ribs and sausage were flavoursome and still juicy, the ribs and pork belly were perfectly rendered. Plenty for 2-3 people. The lettuce skewer with kimchi and sarasser was unusual but a great accompaniment.

Lovely meal, and such good service. The menu offered so much more choice than the one online or in the window! In fact spoilt for choice. We both had the fish options - simply cooked but delicious, just as should be.
