Sungchul Shim, chef and owner of the Michelin star restaurant Kochi opens his second Michelin star restaurant Mari in Hell's Kitchen. At Mari (roll in Korean), Sung offers a tasting menu of street-food inspired Korean hand rolls, complemented by an extensive wine list and a selection of Korean spirits like soju and chungju.Mari is offering a $145 per person seasonal tasting menu (along with a beverage pairing for $110) that explores the many facets of Korean cuisine through small plates and inventive hand rolls.Due to the nature of our tasting menu, we are unable to accommodate vegetarian/vegan diets, gluten-free diets (if soy is not okay to consume), rice-free diets, allergies to fish, allium, sesame seeds/oil, and aversion to raw seafood. Excellent service. Whole staff is knowledgeable and attentive. Food is delicious with beautiful presentation. Highly recommend sitting at the counter to watch the food preparation. If I get the chance, I will absolutely return.

My go-to place for Korean food pretty near Macy’s Herald Square on W35th — Han Bat is reasonably priced and I love the Dulcet Bibinbop always fresh and delicious. I like to put quite a bit of sesame oil in my food and they are always accommodating. Get there a bit early as Han Bat and especially the place next door gets crowded. Atmosphere is down to earth, not fancy but clean and friendly service. It’s also nice that you can have a conversation very comfortably.
