Throughout the space of Public, a modernist sensibility is blended with a classic American, Newport mansion drawing room theme. It's design is inspired by the existing architecture of the Masonic Temple and it's Rhode Island Capital Statehouse neighbor. Public's masculine and warm setting will be a meeting place for hipsters and Senators alike.
Please keep in mind that we are next to a theatre and it greatly affects reservations and seating times.

This is your go to destination for pre-show @ Vets Auduitorium! Step out the front door and your are already at the theater and optional valet parking is a deinite perk! The food was delicious and they made sure to please us with surprising us with some irish themed items on a special menu-nobody goes through such trouble, such a surprise and the corned beeef was melt in your mouth delicious. My Irish eyes were smiling. I had hosted this event with friends from work and they were amazed thru dinner and with the show. It made me look like a superstar! Thanks so much Public Kitchen- Coleen

Had an absolutely wonderful experience! The food was exceptional, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Every staff member was incredibly friendly, contributing to a truly memorable dining experience. Our waiter was particularly impressive, offering insightful recommendations and a deep knowledge of the menu that made our choices even easier. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic meal, and I will definitely be returning!

We ate dinner here on Valentine’s Day. Needed somewhere to go while we waited to pick up our kids from their respective dinners and it had availability. It is definitely a place people go before a show. It was packed when we got there at 6 and emptied out at about 6:30. Our service was good but I wish I could say the same about the food. Our crab cake was lukewarm warm at best. Basically cold. My salmon was supposed to be medium. It was charred on the top and well done in the middle. The flavor was so fishy I couldn’t finish it. It was supposed to be over a warm salad of potatoes and cauliflower with a Dijon dressing. The salad was not warm, but cold and it came with pickles, banana peppers, and carrots mixed into it?!?! The Dijon mustard was so overpowering - I also couldn’t finish that. I will say that my husband got the Chicken Marsala and enjoyed it. Unfortunately we won’t be back.

I have dined many times at the Public Kitchen and Bar. August is the server I request and always provides excellent service and is friendly and attentive. Christopher the manager is friendly and cordial .
