I wish this restaurant was better. Maybe it’s because we have only sat on the second floor. The service is incredibly slow; 40 minutes for a cocktail is simply way too long no matter how you look at it. The food other than steak is actually very tasty inventive and good. The sides the soup and the salmon were great. This restaurant cannot cook steak. We’ve been here twice and they cannot cook to temperature, it’s always overcooked. Tonight I received a medium/well steak on a medium rare order. Sent it back and received a steak the SAME temp. Maybe they just cook all steaks medium and assume it’s not objectionable and most people won’t send them back. It’s not Applebees, for 70 bucks you should be able to prepare a steak to temp, and if you don’t at least apologize and get it right the second time. And if you fail at that take the steak off the bill. None of this happened.

The dirty dishes sat too long and food was delivered with them sitting there. The side dishes were just ok. My lamb was overcooked and I sent it back and the replacement came after my table mates were finished eating. My table mate said they should comp me and the waiter asked the manager and they did but it was disappointing. They cocktails and oysters were good .

Beautiful atmosphere, our waitress was very informative and helpful and our meals were delicious!

Very nice steak house. We all enjoyed our meal much more than the appetizers we ordered. That included the lobster bisque that had only a bite of lobster despite an elaborate puff pastry display. Parking can be tricky on a Saturday night but they do have a dedicated lot behind the restaurant.

A steakhouse that has hanger steak cooked well is important. They did it well. Cocktail game on point. Only thing I would add is seasonal specials to keep the “want to go back four times a year vibe. Everything was high quality, cooked perfectly, served well. Just that return factor beyond the standard steakhouse picks.

Our experience at 1870 was excellent. The menu offered a variety of selections for every palet. My wife does not eat meat, but she had numerous options to choose from, and all were delicious. The wait staff was on the mark; attentive, courteous, and the flow of the meal was orchestrated beautifully from start to finish. While a bit pricey, the overall value was very good. We are thrilled to have a top caliber restaurant right here in Midlothian.

1870 was amazing. It was my first time there and I would definitely go back. We sat at the high tops at the bar and the noise level was good, not too loud. It got a little louder as the night went on but I could still hear my husband. The food was amazing! The service was phenomenal! Aiden was on top of it and always checking in. He explained what would taste best and very attentive.
