34 is Chef Emeril Lagasse’s first restaurant dedicated to the cuisine of his Portuguese heritage. He was inspired by his late mother, Hilda, who influenced his interest in cooking when he was a child growing up in Fall River, MA. The 245-seat restaurant is adorned in shades of green – Emeril’s signature color – wood accents and ornate Portuguese tiles. A painting of a rooster, a national Portuguese symbol of good luck, greets guests at the entrance. Once inside, a jamon bar with countertop service and tile-clad DJ booth are focal points of the space. The restaurant celebrates not only the food and design of Portugal but also the sounds, with music from local and touring DJs.

We loved our meal! The sangria was great, tasted like Christmas in a glass. Food was delicious and service was wonderful.

I wanted to love this place but it’s a menu with some hits and some misses. Our main dishes were plated at different times and I was halfway through mine before I got my glass of wine. Croquettes with jamon jam were a joke. Clams were good, octopus was not. Pasteis de nata- outstanding.

We were seated at the “ham bar” right next to the kitchen. Overall experience , food and value was great. Will definitely go again soon.

Amazing from start to finish! Service was top notch. Delicious, authentic Portuguese selections. Bread & butters are a must. We loved the Porco Alentejana, a signature dish of Portugal. Meat was so tender! Morcela de Arroz was perfect! Octopus was delectable! Shrimp San Miguel was so flavorful- be sure to dip some bread in the molhos if all these dishes! Beautiful restaurant! We hope to return next time we come to NOLA.

Beautiful experience I love sharing all the small flights. Our server was fantastic and I loved the wine selections.

Food and ambience were fine. However, I question charge for slices of bread we were charged for. Ordered the jamon and valdeo cheese. No bread provided., so we asked for a few slices. Ordered clams in a white sauce. No bread provided ,so we asked for a few slices to dip in the sauce. Upon receiving bill, we were charged 10.00 for 5 slices of bread. Seems excessive and not befitting a restaurant pursuing this type of cuisine/service.

This restaurant, even though it has only been open for 2 weeks, was a joy. Great food, unlike anything else in New Orleans, was as deliciously prepared as it was delicious to eat. We sat at the bar, and the service was lovely. Kudos to the bar manager, Damion, for a great experience at the bar! As for the ambiance, it is a beautiful space, that can be described as “elegantly sexy”. We’ll be back!

Chique and glamorous new restaurant in the city. Unique Portuguese menu with a different style of dining with shared plates. Desserts were amazing!

The paella was underwhelming with the minimal rice on the plate for $75 - also the four shrimp on the dish wasn’t cooked so we had to send it back. I will say the gin cocktails were the best I’ve ever had JE
