Please note - standard tables are located in our main dining room and covered atrium room. High top tables are in our intimate, cozy wine bar towards the front of the restaurant. You can reserve the chef's counter as well. Walk-in reservations welcome.

A16 is a Michelin rated and James Beard Award Winning restaurant bringing the delicious and hospitable traditions of lively Campania to San Francisco. The chic, rustic/modernist venue is named after the motorway that transverses the South of Italy. Executive Chef Yosuke Machida carefully selects local, organic produce and meats to prepare a daily menu specializing in wood oven-fired Neapolitan pizza, braised meatballs, vibrant salads, pasta and local meats and seafood dishes. Owner Shelley Lindgren works closely with a well-versed, hospitable service team to bring one of the SF Bay Area's celebrated wine and food destinations.

A16 is no longer what it used to be! Sad but understandable when you open multiple locations, the quality tends to get scarce.

I have dined at A16 for many years now. Infrequently at best. When I want to eat Italian but my favorite pizza place, Pazzia is closed on Sundays. I absolutely dislike how noisy A16 is. I feel compelled to eat quickly and leave. I adore the appetizers, including salads. Pizza is ok. Pasta is lovely. Deserts are hit or miss. Service is efficient which is great because the noise levels start getting to you.

Utensils has lipstick marks on it. The waiter can be more attentive.

i had been wanting to try this restaurant so i made a reservation for valentine’s day and left extremely disappointed. they packed our section so tightly that we had to move our table every time a party came or left. the food was poorly balanced and our appetizers were stale :/ you’re better off going somewhere where they care about their customer experience instead of churning people in and out on valentine’s day of all days. not worth the $300 bill at ALL.

I travel the globe, and consider A16 a "must do" every time when in San Francisco. It has a fun balance of professional/friendly staff and high quality dishes. Would give it more Stars if I could !
