Cleanliness of tables later when we moved into another part of the pub was a let down, we had to clean the tables ourselves & asked for cleaning materials from the staff who instead of doing the work happily gave us some spray & cloths to do. They said the cleaner would do the rest in the morning. While we were eating people at the bar were constantly vaping which I found was disgusting. Not a nice experience.

Booked a table as location was convenient to catch up with friends for food and drinks. I had not eaten here for several years and had seen mixed reviews. Whilst the pub itself was maybe more busy than usual on the run up to Christmas service did not take long at the bar. My friends ordered pie and chips, fish and chips whilst I had ordered Mediterranean linguine with additional chicken. When the order arrived , there was no chicken with my pasta and the pie and chips looked extremely underwhelming - size of portion mainly. As it happened we hadn’t been charged for the chicken and as it would have taken 10 minutes to arrive, decided it really wasn’t that essential. The linguine was ok, plenty of vegetables and whilst the fish and chips looked uninspiring were quite nice. I will certainly go to the Abbey again for drinks but can’t say any of us would be ordering food in the future.

Despite booking and confirming the day before when we arrived at agreed time was told they were no longer doing food!

Arriving 5 minutes early we got a drink and asked where we were seated. We were told just to sit anywhere. We found a space outside and cleared away empty glasses ourselves-not an issue as other people had just left went inside to order to be told food had stopped at 7pm! Our table had been booked for 7.30pm and we took approx 10 mins to find table and go to the bar to order! No apologies for mid-representation of booking at all. Booking was confirmed via text and email.

Very welcoming and friendly service. Food very good indeed. We did wait a while for it but it was well worth the wait.

open table and The Abbey pub is not fit for purpose. Upon our arrival we were told no food was being served and that they were unable to notify us of cancellation because open table dosnt have the facility to do this. So our evening was compleatly ruined. I would not recommend using open table for booking anywhere.

Was booked in for Mothers Day and my Dad's birthday, we were put on a table right next to the front door, it was a cold rainy day so everytime the door opened we got a draught. Not good when we had 2 elderly diners with us. We ordered food when arrived and it didn't come out for an hour after and it wasn't even busy. Did get an apology after 45 minutes. The portions were very small for the price, was glad we ordered our 11yr old an adults meal (lasagna) as she was still hungry after that (it came with just lasagna in a fancy shallow skillet and 2 pieces of lettuce) There was a teaspoon portion of mash on the Sunday lunch, 3 tiny roast potatoes, cabbage, yorkshire pudding which took thd whole plate up and very watery gravy. All in all won't be coming back to dine as the food is too posh for the pub. We should have complained but we were waiting so long for food that we were all grateful to eat something. We left straight after the meal as the table was not ideal to sit and have a drink.

Took my parents to the Abbey for the first time for lunch. We had a fish finger sandwich from the lunch menu which was meant to be on bloomer bread. It was literally stuck between two thin slices of cheap bread with no salad or anything. It was very poor quality, we just looked at it in surprise. We have been to places before and had a fish finger sandwich and the quality has been a lot better. We will not be returning for food again. However the member of staff was friendly behind the bar.
