The Grove is the perfect place to sit, relax and pass the time with family or friends over an afternoon tea. Choose from our selection of loose leaf teas, nibble on a a slice of homemade cake, scone, eclair, macaroon, sandwiches or meringues, or even upgrade to a sparkling afternoon tea or a flowering jasmine afternoon tea. You can choose to eat in our lounge, orangery bar, dining room, or even in the garden.

It can be enjoyed in the restaurant, lounge, conservatory or gardens. Afternoon Tea must be pre-booked, at least 24 hours in advance. Whether you want to celebrate a special occasion or to simply treat yourself we have designed our Afternoon Tea menu to allow guests to really indulge and our menus include savoury finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with homemade preserves and clotted cream and a selection of traditional, fruit and herbal tea. And of course, there is always the option to make it a sparkling celebration by adding a glass of champagne!

This lovely variation on our traditional Afternoon Tea features a very light and fruity Tea with a special 'jasmine Pod', which unfurls in your tea glass to become a beautiful scented flower. A pot of English breakfast tea can be added at no extra cost, if required

We wore masks on entering the hotel. Staff weren't wearing masks, even when serving our tea, and 3 members were gathered in the very small reception room - given the high rate of asymptomatic Covid infections, this was concerning. We made our way to the outside seating area. Unfortunately tables and seating appeared dusty with small twigs etc in the rattan seats: I felt very uncomfortable by this time so we then decided to go back inside where we had a room to ourselves, but on a very hot day, no window was open despite official advice. Tea arrived but the tea plates were dirty. My husband went ti request for replacements. The food was reasonable, good variety of sandwiches but it seemed they had not been kept refrigerated. The cream in the profiteroles had melted to liquid. Sadly, a long awaited treat after several cancellations did not reach our expectations. I doubt we would return to this hotel which is sad as it's so local.

Pleasant garden dining, nice sandwiches and seemingly freshly baked scones... but a little on the small size which was disappointing. All very nice but wouldn’t rush back.

A very warm welcome, wasn't too busy so we had a choice of places to sit. Good selection of sandwiches and cakes. Staff very friendly.

I loved the Afternoon Tea at the Grove the only issue was that the tea lot was quite call and did not have a hot water refill pot.

This was the third time I'd had Afternoon Tea at The Grove and the first when it's been less than excellent overall. The food was delicious, but although only one of our party didn't eat meat, there were no meat sandwiches for anyone. There was no butter, jam or cream provided for the scones and when we asked for this, a small pot of jam and cream were provided (enough for 2 not 4), and no butter. We also had to ask for milk for tea and clean plates for our sweet foods. It was hard to find staff during our visit. On previous visits, we have always been offered top-ups of tea, but not this time. If we asked for things we got them, but they weren't offered. Having said that, I know times are difficult at present and the food was lovely and beautifully presented. It was just a little disappointing having always had excellent service before.

Position lovely, service very good, but food was average, would have been very disappointed if I had had to pay full price ( help to eat was available)

Been here 3 times now for afternoon tea and always good. Choice of which room to sit in is a great feature. Service is great without being overbearing.

This was our third afternoon tea at The Grove, the service was efficient and friendly, the food was delicious and plenty. We loved the whole experience and would definitely revisit in the future. The one suggestion we would make is to put more savoury delicacies, cheese straws, on the tiers.

It was one of the nicest afternoon teas I've had. Everything very fresh especially the scones which were delicious. Couldn't manage to eat everything so a box was supplied to take left overs home. Extremely good value and would definitely go back.
