Al Molo is an award-winning Italian restaurant launched in 2015 and transformed Weymouth’s Pier Bandstand into a destination for wonderful Italian food. Co-owners Giuseppe Vannucci & Tim Newton achieved national recognition from the Italian Chamber of Commerce with the “Marchio Ospitalità Italiana“ seal of quality award and won Gold for ‘Restaurant Of The Year’ at the South West England Tourism Excellence Awards.

Building on that success, this new restaurant, their second, Al Molo Dorchester, is traditional Italian cuisine and seafood Restaurant focus to bring fresh, locally caught fish to the forefront of the menu.

Situated in one of Dorchester’s oldest buildings, Judge Jeffreys on High West Street, one of the few surviving timber-framed buildings in Dorchester.

Using fresh, locally caught fish and produce, coupled with the finest Italian ingredients, the restaurant will pride itself on quality food in a venue which provides a unique historical setting.

This visit was because the Owner had kindly asked us to return with a discount off our food as our previous dining experience had been below standard. Unfortunately, although the food was good, the service was appalling. Nobody greets you when you enter, we waited at least 10 minutes to be asked if we wanted a drink, a second drink was not offered until we asked. There were plenty of staff but, again, no-one assigned to a particular table. There was an air of chaos about the place. Our food arrived in a timely manner. The bill was wrong and had to be corrected and when we left not one staff member said goodbye or offered any parting words even on New Years Eve.We dine out a lot and this restaurant could be vastly improved by attentive and we'll trained staff. It was noticeable that if you were a "regular" you were treated quite differently. Unfortunately, an excellent kitchen is being let down by staff who are unorganised and not interested in providing a top-notch dining experience.

The food was outstanding - the rabbit, and lamb were both superb, the lamb was falling off the bone and the flavour was second to none. All of the food was a credit to the chef and their team. The cocktails (margarita/ negoroni/ espresso martinis) all perfectly made and delicious. Cannot fault anything tonight. The staff were super friendly, and attentive, even on what appeared to be a busy night (new year's eve). Cannot recommend al molo enough.

We had the 8 course Assigne menu which was amazing. We enjoyed every course. The staff were very helpful, polite and knowledgeable.

It was a quiet day in the restaurant which was a shame. The waitress was very helpful and explained menu options

We had an anniversary lunch at Al Mola. The food and were delicious and the service friendly and excellent. We love the building too, very old and and once accommodating the famous judge Jeffries. I would thoroughly recommend this Italian restaurant.

Modern Italian Masterpiece Dining at Al Molo was a true culinary delight. Every dish was a masterpiece, balancing bold flavors with elegant presentation. From start to finish, the food was absolutely delicious and beautifully plated—each plate looked like a work of art. Choosing a favorite dish was impossible because every single one was exceptional. The staff were a highlight of the experience, providing attentive, friendly, and highly knowledgeable service. Their expertise in pairing the perfect wine with our meal made the evening even more special. The ambiance was flawless—modern, yet warm and inviting—making it the perfect setting for a memorable meal. For anyone seeking a fresh take on Italian cuisine, I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. I’ll definitely be returning to savor more of their innovative menu!

Beautifully prepared and perfectly cooked dishes, from the breads to the fish and meat. Lovely flavours and pleasant service. You have to wait for the food and this is reassuring and enjoyable: you know it’s being worked on and it gives a chance for conversation. Would definitely visit again

We ate at Al Molo on Saturday night, having been highly impressed with the food and service when in Weymouth. My wife started with the ham, mozzarella and tomatoes and I had the scallops, both were fantastic. We then went on to have monkfish wrapped in Parma ham and lobster and prawns. They were wonderful, fabulous tasting and very well presented. The staff were excellent as expected. Overall a brilliant night enjoyed. We will definitely be back.
