Join Executive Chef Jason Stratton on a journey through the flavors and dishes that make this region so unique.

Open seven days a week, Alder & Ash is located at the corner of 7th and Pike in downtown Seattle. Right in the heart of the Central Business District, Alder & Ash is the perfect place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a late night cocktail.

Breakfast is offered daily from 6am to 10:30am, followed by lunch from 11am to 3pm, happy hour from 4pm to 6pm and dinner from 5pm to 10pm.

Start your evening with a flight of small bites including Scallop & Roasted Carrot Tartare Caviar with house made potato chips & Hamachi Crudo Spaghetti with long stem artichoke & black truffle cream. Choice of Crab Cake with celery root puree, blood orange & crispy parsnip or NY Strip steak with rose petal demi glace or Live Maine Lobster Scampi* with spinach & calabrian chile butter & Alder & Ash twice baked potato with the works. *additional $40 charge For dessert, Lemon Meringue Tartlet with pomegranate & pine nuts or Dark Chocolate & Ginger Truffles.

Food was ok. My son ordered a burger and they didn’t ask how it should be cooked which was odd. There wasn’t anything noteworthy about what we ate. For the price paid, I was a bit disappointed. Adequate but we will not go back.

All food was good. We started with the hummus appetizer and it was very good and a nice sized portion. We did have to ask for additional bread which we received at no extra charge. My wife had the Caesar salad with chicken (which she gets at almost every place we go) and she deemed it good. I had the seafood chowder and arugula salad. Chowder was very good with almost no clams, so if that is what you are expecting, you will be disappointed. My salad was okay but 98% was arugula and I would probably not order it again. We had lots of time before the theater and had huckleberry profiteroles for desert. Very good. Martinis at $20 are a little high priced. As we entered the restaurant, a couple that did not have a reservation informed us that it was a 45 minute wait for a table as they were leaving. The dining room was never full and two sections did not seem to have waiters working. I guess it was a staffing issue but left a bad impression.

We had an early dinner prior to a show at the Paramount. Had great service from James! His first question was any alllergies to be aware of? And a follow up question to specifically understand my allergy. As someone who often has to have multiple ingredients removed, I had a delicious salad with grilled shrimp with only goat cheese removed. It was delicious and satisfying. The profiteroles with huckleberry ice cream and my husbands bread pudding are two of many things that will bring us back again. Bonus that the desserts were served by Scott, the executive chef. 😁

Plenty of seating, open space. Can get loud/noisy when the lunch crowd really arrives, which makes conversation challenging. Service was pleasant and the delivered quickly. Some items are rather costly, even by downtown Seattle standards.

We gave this place two tries....Dinner service was nothing to write home about. We arrived to not find a host the first time and had to walk to the front although the restaurant was empty. Seemed like the host was more occupied talking with the bartender... We ordered the caviar tots and they were underwhelming (came stuck to the plate, the salmon caviar might have been toasted under a salamander instead of being a garnish at the end. Caviar was rubbery and got stuck to our teeth) Wine selection was also meh. Best thing we ordered we the Moules Frites. Service was ok for the most part. Came back in the morning to have breakfast keeping in mind our experience yesterday with the mussels being the highlight. We chose the al a carte menu over the buffet partly because it lacked gluten free options because one of us is celiac. Ordered tea (which came with maybe 2in of water in a cup and a packet of tea on the side how infuriating by the time you put your tea bag into the cup you have tepid bath water instead of a tea infusion with not even a pot of water on the side to top off ). Ordered the toast was ok (maybe half of an avocado if I was lucky but didn't care for the cheese spread on top felt like eating a whole container of Boursin cheese to myself). Hubby ordered the oatmeal which was to his description as cold and sad. Also decided to order the parfait (last time I checked a parfait is pre assembled, also was pretty sad wish it came with more granola, yogurt was bland was dying for a little bit of lemon or a pinch of salt) Overall pretty lackluster, would skip this place for breakfast. Interior is pretty and has a interesting vibe but really never not full. Menu for breakfast and buffet is not properly thought out. The idea and vibe is there but the menu needs fine tuning.

Excellent service on 1/1. Appreciated all the servers who worked on holiday. Kids menu is a good value if you have kids. The oysters are devine.

Mediocre food and poor service. I know it was New Year’s Eve but we had a 7 pm reservation and there wasn’t many people there and the service was not good .We were excited to try the restaurant but will not be back.

Good assortment of food for meat eaters, pescatarians and vegetarians. Nice service and they had us out in time for the theater.

The atmosphere and service were excellent. Had one of the mocktails (two doves i think it was called) and would 10/10 recommend!
