NOW OPEN! Altamirano Restaurant & Bar is a new Peruvian restaurant, conveniently located in the NOPA neighborhood of San Francisco. Open the door to a spacious bar that flows seamlessly into the luxe dining room, with the exhibition kitchen in full view. Meander outside to the dynamic outdoor dining courtyard, featuring a fire pit, ample seating, a bar, and a TV to watch your favorite sports teams. Led by a team of culinary and hospitality professionals, service is comfortable yet elevated.
Overseen by Chef Carlos Altamirano and led by Chef Eric Chumacero, the menu is a modern take on the flavors of Peru. Bold tastes and unique preparations will delight your senses and pop on your palette. Drinks highlight traditional Peruvian ingredients but with a contemporary twist.

I found this restaurant on Eater. I’ve tired many restaurants recommended by Eater and have never been let down. Until this time. I went with four friends for a New Year’s Eve meal and although the service was excellent, what came out of the kitchen was terrible. The ravioli came out cold, and the pork was so over cooked the knife they gave me couldn’t cut through the meat. Same thing with the spare ribs. The ambiance is nice. They did a good job making the space look great. Now the kitchen needs to figure out what it’s doing. Wildly expensive for what they served.

Great food & drink - especially the ceviches and the pisco sours - and super friendly service. Only disappointment was the octopus. Overall dish and accompaniments were good, but the octopus was allegedly “confíe” but instead was just rubbery, as happens when octopus is overcooked. This small flaw will not stop me from coming back.
