Lovely restaurant in a warm, inviting brick-walled space. I was happy to see the same plates on the walls from their previous incarnation in Eastern Market DC! Friendly and efficient service, especially the latino woman that brought our water and bread and bussed our table - I didn’t catch her name but she was so personable and lovely she made my cousin’s birthday dinner even more special! Recommended: fabulous Bucatini with mushrooms (equals my fav mushroom pasta dish at Caruso’s Grocery), kale apple and goat cheese salad, fish of the day (grouper was cooked perfectly!), chocolate hazelnut semifreddo. I miss their giant meatballs from when they were at Eastern Market - They are still the standard that I compare all other meatballs to. I will just continue to visit, and hope they return to the menu!

The Amaroni was the worst I have ever tasted; I don't know why any restaurant would have this particular brand on their wine list.

Excellent authentic Italian cuisine. Excellent wine selections — all Italian. Our waitress was perfect in her recommendations and contributions to a delightful evening. service was very attentive.

Food was excellent . Too much blueberry on filet. Server was superb and found my credit card in the dimly lit room. Wine list is very high-priced make that VERY. Noise is loud so much so conversation was difficult. I missed a traditional insalata mixta

We visited Acqua Al 2 for a birthday dinner for my husband. We had traveled to Florence, Italy earlier in the fall, so we were interested in seeing how close to a Firenze experience this was. Acqua Al 2 is in a great building - exposed brick, ambient lighting, cozy booths and tables - very welcoming. Service was solid, and the menu had many interesting options. The only minor detraction would be execution in the kitchen. Salads come to you straight out of the walk in cooler, and are too cold. The Primi (pasta) was quite good (we ordered the rigatoni with eggplant). I ordered the grilled veal chop and DH ordered the filet with blueberry reduction, and both were just ok. The grill was dirty perhaps and the chop tasted of burned grease. The blueberry reduction was overwhelming and smothered the filet. It wasn't bad, but it needed some herbaceous element to offset the sweetness. Overall a positive experience though!
