Asador Bastian is a Chicago chophouse with Basque influences from acclaimed Chef
Doug Psaltis. Located in the iconic “Flair House” originally built in 1883, this historic

townhouse has been revived and brought back to life with culinary inspiration from the
great asadors of San Sebastián, Spain to serve the world’s best boutique beef without
compromise. The most remarkable dining experience comes from the purest ingredients
delivered in the supremely thoughtful, welcoming and hospitable manner. This ethos
has directed every aspect of the experience at Asador Bastian, whether you’re joining
us for small bites and libations in our Bar Room or for a more intimate experience in our
Dining Room.

Van de OpenTable-redactie: In a historic River North townhouse, you’ll find Asador Bastion, named one of 2023’s best new restaurants by Esquire. Acclaimed wife-and-husband team Hsing Chen and Doug Psaltis lead the kitchen, which turns out Basque-inspired feasts starring impressive steaks cooked over a live-fire grill alongside caviar churros and arroz cremoso. It’s all served in an opulent dining room decked with olive green leather banquettes and vintage Murano glass chandeliers.

    At Asador Bastian we are excited to offer our Chef's Table; a one of a kind experience. Our Chef's Table is located directly across from our kitchen where you will have a full view of our world class chefs at work creating the dishes that make our restaurant so unique. The Chef's Table is an experience created for 6 or 10 guests. A deposit of $150 per person is required for booking this private dining room. The deposit is applied to the final bill.     This was an amazing experience through and through. The only exception is the tables are very close to each other, you can pretty much listen to everyone’s conversation. Unfortunately we were seated next to a table of loud business bros who would not stop yelling the whole time. Pretty much kills the lovely vibe.

    What a gem! Asador Bastian totally knocked it out of the park. Our server, Yousef ( potentially spelling his name wrong), was fantastic - super friendly and really knew his stuff. His recommendations were perfect for our dinner. We started with their Tortilla Española, which was a great way to kick things off - light but packed with flavor. The arroz cremoso that came next was incredible - the flavors were spot on. But the real showstopper was the Akaushi beef, cooked exactly how we wanted it, paired with these amazing bone marrow potato purée that I'm still thinking about. We wrapped up with a delicious cheesecake that hit all the right notes. The whole experience, from walking in to walking out, was just perfect. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes! If you're thinking about going - just do it. You won't regret it!

    We had a phenomenal experience. The food, service, and ambiance is excellent. Great selection of fresh seafood and some of the best beef in the world. Highly recommend the Kagoshima wagyu, you can only get it in two places in the US. No matter what you choose, you won’t be disappointed. We will come back every time we visit Chicago.

    Our server was super kind and personable. The environment was super elegant but the service was very friendly which was nice. The service team was super professional and had a lot of finesse. The food was incredible. All salads were extremely fresh and balanced with acidity. The highlight bite was the tallow potato with the aioli. Steak was not too seasoned and had nice finishing salt. The piquillo peppers were exceptional. Desserts were great as well. For anyone wanting to go to a fine dining restaurant focussing on ingredients, time and place, as well as incredible craft, this place is for you. Will definitely be going back.

    This was an amazing dining experience! Everything, the service, the drinks, the steak and the bone marrow potatoes were amazing. Loved the Basque cheesecake that is house made, and the swan dessert with coffee. The Wagyu steak was so good. I ate what was left right off the bone.
