BLACK AND WHITE
In photography, analog black and white and modern digital colour are two contrasting chapters in our visual history. Analog black and white evokes nostalgia with its greyscale, weaving emotions through shades of grey and revealing human experience through shadows. Modern digital colour, on the other hand, celebrates life’s vivid hues with technicolour exuberance. These two mediums coexist as evocative windows to the past and present, leaving lasting marks on our memories

CLARITY
Clarity in photography, like a perfectly brewed cup of coffee, embodies purity and transparency. Just as well-filtered coffee yields a clean, clear brew, photography achieves clarity through sharp details and minimal obstructions, revealing the essence of a moment, much like a pure taste that sacrifices texture and richness. Clarity invites us to appreciate subjects with simplicity, while a touch of haziness can offer a satisfying, textured experience. Removing clarity adds intrigue and mystery.

SATURATION
Saturation in photography, akin to a chef’s seasoning, enhances the visual ‘taste’ of an image, striking a balance between subtlety and vibrancy. Lower saturation expands visual subtlety, allowing us to appreciate pure elements or serene images with restraint. Photography and culinary art share the elegance of achieving the perfect balance, where less can be more in an artful and gratifying manner.

COLOUR INVERSION
Color inversion in photography is a playful twist on the familiar, akin to a magician’s trick that transforms the expected into the unexpected with wonder. It flips our visual reality, revealing hidden dimensions and inviting us to see the world in a new enchanting light. This whimsical journey adds intrigue and surprise to the art of capturing moments, encouraging exploration of the extraordinary in the ordinary

SEPIA
Sepia photography, with its warm amber tones, embraces cherished memories of seasons past, evoking nostalgia like the transition from spring to autumn. Much like these seasons, sepia photos capture moments with wistful elegance, bridging vibrant spring hues and autumn’s rich tones. They remind us of life’s enduring charm in transitions and days gone by.

BLEACHED
The bleached effect in photography resembles milkwashing in cocktails. Just as milkwashing clarifies and softens a cocktail’s flavour by removing impurities, bleaching strips color and detail, creating a subdued, ethereal quality. Both techniques refine, turning the original into something delicate and evocative. Just as a well-milkwashed cocktail becomes smoother and nuanced, bleached photos often evoke nostalgia or abstraction, inviting exploration beyond the surface.

BOKEH
The bokeh effect in photography is like capturing flavour in a single frame. It turns the background into a dreamy blur, elevating the subject as the star of the visual story. Similarly, in a well-prepared dish, flavours burst forth while everything else recedes. Bokeh, like flavour, directs focus, creating an unforgettable sensory experience.

LONG EXPOSURE
Long exposure photography, like making black garlic, is a patient process that enriches the final outcome. Both involve controlled conditions and time. Long exposure images capture the beauty of movement and light, while black garlic develops complex flavours over weeks. These processes turn time into a captivating transformation.Tasting of three cocktails, composed of same ingredients, were whisky was aged in same type of cask for different periods of time, and the mix of pineapple, ice wine and miso caramel was also aged. Cocktail is served in three installations: No.1 Macallan Harmony III amber meadow and unaged base No.2 Macallan 12 double cask and base aged for 2 weeks at high temperature No.3 Macallan 18 double cask and base aged for 5 weeks at high temperature An exploration of moments in time
