Bansho is cooking some good Japanese fusion food, but our dining experience was patchy, suggesting this quite new restaurant is still finding its feet. Declaring that dishes are made for sharing does not free you from the need to present dishes at the same time, when a table of two has ordered one dish each, from each course. Failing completely to deliver one entree, then moving on to the main course is a bad look, compounded by then including the missing dish on the bill. On the positive side, the small list of wine by the glass was well chosen and the full wine list is good, though sometimes a little ambitiously priced. The room looks good, though a little noisy and the service is friendly, if a little sketchy at times. We will give Bansho some time to settle in before considering a return visit - it's a little mysterious as to why the Age Good Food Guide thought it worthy of a hat in its current state.

Very delicious food. Loved the chawanmushi which had a lovely creamy texture, full of flavour and chock full of ingredients. The duck, A5 wagyu and scallops were also top notch.

First time there following the reading of positive reviews. The food was excellent as was the service and premises. A really nice dining experience!

Each time we dine at Bansho we come away raving about the service and food. Larry and team are natural hosts and make an effort to engage with all customers. The food is next level and the wine list is exceptional. Last night in particular for my daughter's 21st, the team made our night memorable with small touches that make this now our go-to for special occasions.

Lovely ambience and Gr8 to have food that’s not the same as everywhere else. French/Japanese fusion makes for a very interesting menu, and the presentation and taste sensations, textures and plating made for a gentility not scene elsewhere in the area.

The food and service at Bansho is always on point! Delicious food which is presented beautifully, and there's a wonderful selection of wines available.

The food here is exceptional and so is the service. A combination of French and Japanese that brings out the best of both cuisines. The Chicken Mousseline Roulade red wine jus, kombu dashi béchamel, potato mille-feuille is a great example of this. They also have an excellent wine and sake list with a good selection available by the glass. There is a good choice of bottles of wine well under the $100 mark. The menu is a combination of starters, entrées and mains plus a whole page of sushi and sashimi (including plant based sashimi) . I would go back again just for the Dobin Mushi (Japanese clear broth serve in tea pot, prawn, chicken, shimeji mushroom & lime. The music level is spot on and it is so nice to go to a restaurant where you can talk to friends without shouting. The staff are wonderful and you can tell they really enjoy working here.
