The food of Sichuan province in southwest China is one of the world's great cuisines. Its most famous characteristic is its fiery spiciness, which comes from the liberal use of chillies and lip-tingling Sichuan pepper. But hot and spicy is only part of the story. Sichuanese chefs are legendary for their ability to combine many different tastes into exquisite complex flavors. Some of these are robustly spicy, while others are delicate and teasing. And the use of chilies is so inventive that their taste never palls.

At Barshu we want to bring you the best of the authentic flavours of Sichuan. So look out, among others, for the seductive 'fish-fragrant'combination of pickled chilies, ginger, garlic and spring onion, the addictive fieriness of 'numbing-and-hot' flavored dishes, and the refreshing tones of a 'ginger-juice' sauce.

We had a very pleasant dinner at Barshu. I he restaurant was busy but the staff were very efficient. The food was very tasty and the ambiance was very pleasant

Excellent Chinese food. The spicy food was a good, sweat on your head spicy, but not so spicy that it was unpleasant to eat. Good bar to compliment the meal. Overall, a great spot for dinner.

Excellent, as usual. I've been going there two or three times a year for a long time. It is always outstanding. The service is very speedy, and the food is reasonably priced. I can't fault it, really.

Barshu is very organised. The seating area is well spaced. Service is quick and prompt. Don't expect European Chinese food. Their food is authentic and people going to Barshu should aim to enjoy that authenticity. We ordered the beef with peppers,Dan Dan noodles, soft shell crab and pork and prawn spring rolls. Excellent food.

The boiled fish in sizzling oil is still good. The mapo tofu was way too salty and lots of MSG. The service was good though.

The service staff looked unhappy and inattentive. The food is cold when arrived. It’s rather disappointing this time as it was good when I eat here once previously.
