What started out as a butcher shop concept, has evolved and changed over the years to become a full-service restaurant, which was solidified with the restaurant's move to a larger space in 2022. At Bavette, the consumer will enjoy complete transparency of its food moving from farm to plate. Although the butcher shop has been phased out, the restaurant still works with the same farms, and uses the same high quality meats on its menu, which consists of a daily changing menu consisting of salads, sandwiches, small plates, pates, cheese, and charcuterie boards. The restaurant truly is a farm-to-table restaurant, sourcing not only the meat but most of its produce from nearby farms. In addition to the highly seasonal menu, there is a small store featuring chef-curated retail items, such as Wisconsin cheeses, local charcuterie, artisanal jams, pickles, salts, vinegar, and oil. Going along with the thoughtful menu is a select and unique offering of craft beers, wines, and cocktails.

Bavette is a fantastic spot for high-quality food in a casual yet refined setting. The ingredients are always fresh, and the menu offers a creative mix of flavors that feel thoughtful and well-executed. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the attention to detail in both the food and presentation is evident. Service was friendly, though at times a bit more familiar than expected. Overall, a great place for a delicious meal with a focus on quality and craftsmanship. Looking forward to returning!

Always and incredible time at Bavette. It is such a gem of the Milwaukee foodie scene.

Never disappoints! Starting with: to say the food is delicious, does not do it justice. Staff is second to none.

Bavette has the best roast beef sandwich I’ve ever eaten, and there is no close second. It’s pricey but worth it. Absolutely delicious. Attentive service, casual but professional ambiance.

A former colleague and I met here for lunch. The food was very good - a bit eclectic and unusual, but tasty. The service was attentive and helpful, without hovering. Overall, a nice and comfortable place for lunch. I do think they have outrun the market on their price points, so be aware of that before you go (I am not sure if this carries over onto the dinner menu).

Such a charming space that includes an open kitchen and a unique market. Staff was so friendly and attentive and the menu was amazing, and the food delicious.

The beef fries appetizer and Cuban sandwich with house salad side was excellent. The striped bass was also excellent as far as taste goes but serving size of the entree was too small and the sides that came with meal were beyond bland. Ambiance and presentation of the restaurant was very nice. However, my biggest complaint is they received a delivery during our dinner. They had the overhead door open for about 15 minutes with the outside temperature being under 30 degrees. The overhead delivery door is directly connected to the dining room. We were cold and everyone around us was cold and uncomfortable. I expected better from the reviews I read and for the rather expensive prices they are charging. They seem to have everything required to provide an excellent dining experience if a little more effort was given to the sides and some common sense to keep their patrons comfortable. Do something other than say we trying to unload the truck as fast as possible. That is not an acceptable solution. Isolate the delivery door from the dining room. Don’t accept deliveries when patrons are dining. Install a hi-output entry way heater that automatically comes on when overhead door is open. Do something…
