Welcome to Bear & Crown! We’re a family-owned restaurant in the heart of Downtown Sacramento bringing a taste of the UK to California. We blend our family's British heritage and love of food & drink with our California home, offering a modern spin on the pub experience. Whether you're here for a full dinner of our famous fish & chips or signature scotch eggs, or looking to grab a pint of British ale and play pool, our full restaurant, bar, and beautiful back patio offer family-friendly space for everyone.

First week of the month: Prime rib with yorkshire pudding, red jacket potatoes, roasted carrots, and a red wine au-just Second week of the month: Caribbean chicken featuring two jerk chicken legs, yam mash, bacon-braised spring greens, and mango chutney. Third Sunday of the month: Pork loin featuring brined & grilled boneless pork chop with apple & onion relish, garlic mashed potatoes, and a mini toad-in-the-hole. Seated 20 minutes after reservation time. Slow service, seemed really understaffed. Fried food was burnt like the oil was needing to be changed. Food was mediocre. Barely anyone there. Sad! Won’t be going back

Won’t go back. It took 45 minutes for the food to come out. Beef stew was terrible but the fish and chips were decent. Poor server was running around so much he was physically sweating. They clearly didn’t have enough staff on the floor or in the kitchen.

Service was quite poor. Took a while to be seated, longer to place our order, and even longer to get our food. I ordered the stew and it was cold and had three pieces of meat in it. Would go back for drinks but doubt I would go back for food service.

Lack of proper staffing resulted in slow service. The front of the house staff were trying hard despite being overwhelmed and our server was always smiling despite the difficulty. We waited too long for our drinks and the bartender looked harried given the workload. We tried Bear & Crown during restaurant week and the dishes available were poorly conceived and executed even worse. The starter was bland and presented poorly on a thin layer of wilted greens. The beef stew was more of an oily, tasteless soup while the alternative cod chowder tasted okay if maybe a little thick for made to order. The steak was undercooked yet somehow also tough and chewy served with cold fries that stuck together - likely caused by crowding in the fryer. The pat of herbed butter would be better suited to a flatter cut of beef as it was difficult to spread evenly across the steak. The alternate entree was a filet of bland, overcooked salmon on a pile of rice that tasted like something from a box. The crowd was lively throughout the large bar and restaurant. Parking was difficult. The inside stayed too cold thanks to the front door being kept open on a chilly January night.

Fantastic service. Our reserved table for 8 was available and ready when we got there. We were seated at exactly 5:30 pm. And DT Sac was breaming with Christmas shoppers and the place was packed. Good was served very nicely and timely. Delicious fish and chips. Apps were ok. Not great. Steaks were spot on. Cocktails were awesome and champagne was served nicely chilled and on ice. Overall the restaurant and its service is impeccable. Great birthday dinner.

This place is a wonderfully authentic pub right in the middle of Old Town. My boyfriend spent some time in London and truly misses a specific dish - Bangers and Mash. They absolutely nailed it for him. I had the beet salad, and I am now trying feverishly to re-create it at home.

I tried the cottage pie 🫶 which was similar to a shepherds pie concept and the regular fries were amazing and i enjoyed the crispy steak fries too. I got a regular margarita which was nice and strong 🤪🤪. The London vibe in here was 🔥🔥🔥 and i love the phone booth for the gram of course. The outside patio is nice too 🥰 we made a reservation for 10 at 6pm on a Saturday for a ladies night. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meals so i highly recommend dining here 🥰
