Named after La Jolla’s popular Open Aire Farmer’s Market, Bistro du Marché allows chef Diot to work closely with farmers to incorporate the finest local flavors into his dishes. Led by Cheffe Amélie Gadoum, Bistro du Marché incorporates quality ingredients and rigorous French technique. Signature dish includes Wild Mushroom Ravioli in Port wine Sauce. One of the specialties: Un Coq au Vin "Ivre de Bourgogne" Organic Chicken Braised in Red Wine Sauce, Yukon Gold Mashed Potato, Carrot, Mushrooms.

Bistro du Marché is based on the culinary concept of “bistronomie”, that emerged in Paris. Bistronomie, is a play on words on the concepts of “bistro” and “gastronomie”. It is a form of French cuisine that emphasizes the blending of haute gastronomic expertise, seasonality, and the traditional “cuisine de terroir” found in bistros across France. The youthfulness of the bistronomie movement has succeeded in reinvigorating French classic cuisine, and raised the bar of traditional French bistros.

I love coming here. It's a bit of a drive from San Marcos, but the food is always good as well as the service.

The sole was superb. The only thing that could have made it better would be to serve it with boiled peeled new potatoes with parsley and a touch of butter. One comment. Your food is always excellent, but it would be good to have a few items on the menu that change much more often to provide more variety to habitués like us.

I used to eat at tapenade often but this was my first time at Bistro. We had a wonderful meal. Everything was perfect. We just returned from a month in France and this was as good a meal as we had during our trip. The quenelles were excellent; filet perfect. Excellent service and great ambiance. Not surprising. Years ago when I lived in Manhattan I ate at Jean Michel’s NY restaurants. He knows food and how to operate a top flight restaurant. Highly recommended.

What an outstanding culinary experience! Sipping a delicious red with promptly served appetizers was a great starts. Every bite of a Boeuf en Tournedos filet was heavenly. Quennelles dish with a side of French beans was perfect treat for my tummy. Thanks God, I got 2nd. stomach: one for the main meal, one for the desert - my favorite Le Flottante with Toasted almonds dipped in Caramel Sauce and Creme Anglaise completed this beautiful blissful dinner. I am dreaming about my next visit. MERCI!

Bistro Du Marche is an outstanding restaurant! We eat there at least once a week. With Chef Amelie in the kitchen, the food is always fresh and delicious. From traditional French seasonal favorites like Boar to delicate Endive salad, the Chef has attention to detail we notice and appreciate. With Maitre d’ Hadrian Paquet’s (Maitre d’ of the year 2024 Ranch and Coast) team offering caring service and a cozy bistro atmosphere, it’s a home away from home, a place to bring your guests-to-impress and a place to linger and enjoy every last bite and sip of wine.

The food was wonderful from the escargots to the stuffed rabbit. Service was great and the Sea Smoke pinot noir was delightful.
