The Morton family opened the first Brigantine on Shelter Island in 1969, with a vision that embraced the beach town lifestyle, a dedication to flavorful food, and a passion for friendly service.

Today, we’re known far and wide for our San Diego-style surf and turf. From our award-winning fish tacos and freshly shucked oysters, to classic filet mignon or our perpetually best-selling marinated grilled swordfish. Outstanding service! Staff seemed happy annd having fun, and clearly worked together well, communicating constantly to ensure customers were well taken care of (a good indicator of good leadership in play - Max was very engaged with his staff!). Very attentive staff. We attended in the afternoon for drinks, came back for dinner, and came back for a night cap and all our experiences were A-one! The food was outstanding in presentation, quality and taste. After a share appetizer of crab and shrimp fondue with garlic bread crostinis (too much for two!) , and a cup of clam chowder, we enjoyed a blackened salmon with crab and shrimp stuffing and topped with a large scallop, served with crab risotto and broccolini - a savoury and decadent dish, garnished with an orchid flower! The Brig Mud Pie was a coffee ice cream-based dessert treat to top things off. Decor and cleanliness excellent. The Brigantine will be a “must returnf” choice whenever we visit San Diego.

We took the recommendations from previous diners and ordered their hamburgers and truffle fries. Indeed that was a good choice. They were very good. The staff was exceptional too. They were friendly and attentive. We were early diners and although it was happy hour it wasn’t too loud for us. The view of the water was nice also.

We had an amazing time from beginning to end. Hostess was friendly and showed us to our table promptly. Max, our server, was attentive, friendly and awesome!

Beautiful setting, decent not great wine list. Food good but not memorable. Service very good and attentive. Select restaurant for time and location which is beautiful but there are far better places to eat on waterfront.

Noise in the restaurant was fine, but the coast guard helicopters were out and noisy. Service was excellent -- attentive and friendly. Food is always great. Ambiance can't be better.
