The Brigantine is more than just home to some of San Diego’s finest seafood. It’s a place where locals and visitors alike come to share a lively atmosphere and authentic sense of community. The Morton family opened the first Brigantine on Shelter Island in 1969, with a vision that embraced the beach town lifestyle, a dedication to flavorful food, and a passion for friendly service.

Today, we’re known far and wide for our San Diego-style surf and turf. From our award-winning fish tacos and freshly shucked oysters, to classic filet mignon or our perpetually best-selling marinated grilled swordfish. This is the second time we’ve visited this Brigantine. The place is gorgeous! Ocean views, beautiful open decor, good food! But the service is lacking. Both times our servers delivered our food and forgot us. No water or drink refills, no checking on us—we had to wave them down to order dessert. I don’t get it.

Our niece was in town with her new husband and met us there for lunch. It was also her birthday. My husband and I have eaten at the Brigantine many times and thought this would be a great place for a birthday luncheon. Michael, our server, was very understanding that we didn't want very fast service as we had a lot of family news to catch up. As usual the dinks and food were great. I was particularly pleased with my Oysters Rockefeller. The portions for our meals were just right and we had a little room leftover to dig into my niece's birthday desert. All in all, a great experience, as usual.

George is the best server! It was the perfect place with the perfect server for my daughter’s birthday lunch. The food, the view and ambiance is top notch.

Great ambiance. Spectacular location. Looks like they may have been understaffed. Service wasn’t as attentive as you would expect but could certainly be a staffing challenge. Our server, when he was with us, was excellent.

All 5 of is loved our choices. We had surf and Turf, chicken cordon-bleu, oysters, calamari, Tiger shrimp, clam chowder, and halibut. Good wine list as well. Nice ambiance, too! Staff was very cordial.

Outstanding location and very good food. The Lobster Tails special and the Baked Oysters were worth special mention. And Dylan was an attentive and well-informed server.

Our server, Max, was the absolute best. Food and cocktails were awesome. My Chicago cousins were very impressed.
