Buon Gusto means ‘good taste’ in Italian. We strive to bring you the ‘good taste’ of Italy in all aspects of our restaurant. Located in the historic Victoria Hotel building in St. George’s Square in Downtown Guelph, Buon Gusto is warm and casual with exposed stone walls and a contemporary interior design. Our wood-burning oven, made in Reggello, Tuscany is ‘il cuore’ (the heart) of Buon Gusto. We import molino caputo tipo 00 flour and San Marzano tomatoes from Italy, to make our pizzas in the traditional Neapolitan thin-crust style, hearth-baking them at 900 degrees Fahrenheit for just 90 seconds. Our menu also features pastas made from family recipes and small-plates of antipasti, perfect for sharing with family and friends.

    The service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive. An example is the server bringing coffee after the meal with our being reminded. The noise level was very reasonable until a noisy group sat beside us at a very close table. The meals were tasty, large portions, attractively served but the pasta could have been a bit saucier and hotter. All in all, dining at Buon Gusto was a lovely experience. I like how the entry is set up so the cold (or hot) air is blocked from entering.

    Wonderful experience! The meal and service were impeccable. Our server was very attentive and the dishes came out promptly. Ali (one of the owners) was gracious and kind. He checked in with us and accommodated one request to bring one dish over the top. We very much recommend the calamari arrabbiata and Tina’s meatballs. The venison ossobuco and spaghetti carbonara were magnificent. I wish there was room for dessert but the portion sizes didn’t allow the indulgence. The value of the meal was so reasonable. We will definitely be back soon.

    David — the GM & our host — is always amazing! Danielle, our server, was friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and delightful! And the food…. Well, Tina’s meatballs are our favorite, we loved the arancini, and our pizzza & pasta mains were exceptional!

    Bruschetta, octopus excellent antipasti, followed by Forest Mushroom pizza, so unique tasty and satisfying! Fitting anniversary celebration. Definitely will return.

    Our experience was wonderful. We appreciated the flexibility of the staff in accommodating a last minute accommodation of an extra person to our party. Other than a somewhat surly hostess who greeted and seated us the whole evening was fabulous. Shout out to our server Brie who was pleasant and personable. She was attentive and friendly. We enjoyed great interaction and she assisted us in staying within our time frame to ensure we made the event we were attending right after. Food was scrumptious! Beverages were delicious. Service was spot on. Would definitely recommend to others. Thanks for helping us make our family event enjoyable.

    29$ for mediocre, bland, lukewarm pasta with a tablespoon of tasteless, shredded lamb, is not something I would have expected from the reviews. I will not be back and will be sure to tell more people not to bother wasting their money. Our server however, was very pleasant and efficient -- the best part of our evening there.

    Food was excellent as usual. Service was great. We had a person join an hour late and their arrival was handled promptly. Definitely will be back again.

    We were placed at a table right outside the kitchen. Not one to complain, I will admit the sounds of the kitchen started the evening out a bit negative. However the atmosphere changed dramatically with the excellent service we received from both our server and the manager and the quality of our meal . Exceptional service. And made the seating placement a non issue at that point. We have been here before and will return again for sure.
