Originally built in 1832 as the Cross Keys Hotel we have been serving the locals of Blaenavon and beyond for almost 200 years.

First class meal at BUTTERFLIES BAR & KITCHEN. From the moment you walk in to when you leave you are made to feel so welcome. The staff are just AMAZING. Having been lucky to have eaten at some amazing restaurants including Claridges, Browns and the Ivy in London the food at Butterflies is up there. Michelin star standard. Lasagne Bites and King Prawn Cocktail to share for starters. Belly Pork, Brisket Burger (plain - fussy eater), Beef Featherblade and Rump of Lamb for Mains. Cookie Dough Pudding and. Cherry Bakewell Sponge Pudding for Dessert. If you’ve not been then you need to go. This was only our second visit but has to be one of our favourite places. Thank you so much.

We were really pleasantly surprised by the warm and friendly welcome and attention during our dinner- the staff are just so lovely. The restaurant ambiance is very cosy and inviting, the food is really great too! We had a wonderful evening and will definitely be back and this time we will try to save room for the desserts as they looked delicious! Highly recommended and we will be back!

Booked for a birthday celebration and was not disappointed. Amazing food and service! Can’t wait to return!

Excellent food and great setting, recommend Quite expensive but food quality great and cooked too perfection,parking at restaurant not great but a few parking spaces down the the road, something too think if you have difficulty walking,would I go again most definately,staff very polite but service on the night was a bit slow.

Sunday Lunch was beautiful and the atmosphere was lovely. Staff are friendly and would definitely recommend.

Very lucky to have managed to book a late cancellation for Sunday dinner! Amazing food, service and setting as always. If you’ve never had a Sunday dinner here you are missing out. The beef was amazing! .

Had Sunday lunch with my mother, never fails to disappoint, always very full and content when I leave the butterflies highly recommend, book early guys ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Outstanding Sunday lunch that was worth the 3 month wait for the table. The beef feel apart and the pork had the best crackling ever. The veggies were stunning and the extra cauliflower cheese was the best I’ve had in a very long time. Though, we couldn’t finish it, however, this restaurant is great for supplying containers to bring home what we couldn’t finish. We have a table booked for April and there’s a steak with my name on 😁

The quality of the Sunday roast we had was excellent and it was really delicious. The service we received from all but one of the staff members was equally outstanding. The only thing I would say as the only shortcoming was there is a mandatory 2 course minimum (there didn’t seem to be any exceptions to this) and whilst this is fine, the size of the portions meant either a lot of waste or taking the mandatory second course home in a take away box.
