Het was te druk waardoor we ondanks dat we gereserveerd hadden eerst ergens buiten moesten wachten. Daarna duurde het 45 minuten voor we iets aangeboden kregen, niet eens tafelwater… Daarna ging tempo omhoog, eten was uitstekend, wijn te duur. Je zit in enorme klankkast met veel grote groepen. Niet nog een keer.

We were a party of six participating in the New Year’s Experience, and the overall experience was disappointing. The event featured a preset menu of five plates that were explicitly designed to be shared among two people. This meant that even the main course and dessert portions—typically expected to be individual servings—were shared between two people. This arrangement was unacceptable and far below the standard we anticipated for a New Year’s celebration. The portion sizes were inadequate, and the sharing model was poorly conceived, leaving us dissatisfied and questioning the value of the event.

We did the NYE dinner, which totaled to $300 for 2 people (with taxes and gratuity), and was extremely disappointing. The portion sizes were tiny and felt like I could eat this myself for $150 let alone two people. Would not recommend eating here for a prefix menu

I took my foodie family to Cabra and everything was excellent. Flavor game on point. Texture game on point. Balance of acidity game on point. This restaurant was excellent and my entire family now wanna try all of Stephanie Izzard’s establishments. Only thing was our table was not ready for 15 minutes. We had to stand waiting by the bar but it was impossible to sit let alone order a drink at the bar. Very awkward having a large 6 person party standing near other dining people.

Cabra is one of the city’s most energetic and atmospheric restaurants. Although the food is varied and interesting, it is not outstanding. Dishes are hit or miss, although nothing was outright unlikeable. After several visits here with hefty bills (each shared plate is about $20 and cocktails are about $18-20) I was left questioning whether the value is really worth it. Considering how much the Chicago food scene has to offer, after two visits to Cabra, I won’t be rushing back.

The manager was incredibly accommodating for my Bday. They treated us so well. Definitely will recommend it. Spence was very loud tho. But excellent food
