Kicking-off our Café Mars Global Italian dinner series is Chicago! We are pairing up with our beloved neighbor and after-work watering hole, Canal Bar, and serving up 5 courses from the illustrious Italian coast of Lake Michigan. January feels like the perfect time to dig in to a cuisine designed to comfort and warm, and we hope you’ll join us on Saturday the 25th or Sunday the 26th and see how Café Mars reimagines classics like Shrimp deJonghe, chicken Vesuvio, and the world-famous Italian beef sandwich. With prior knowledge, many dietary restrictions can be accounted for, so please reach out to see if particular menus can be modified for you to come eat with us!
Large Party Pre Fix Reservation (5-6 guests)

For parties of more than four guests, we offer a pre-fixe menu that showcases our favorite menu items and our favorite way to dine -- family style! For this menu, the party will receive an array of snacks, followed by an antipasti course. Then, all four of our house made pastas and a couple of big dishes will round out the meal. To finish, you'll get to try all of our desserts!

A bit disappointing - there is a lot of creativity here and when the dish is delicious it works - but for a few dishes (ex: Pork Steak) the idea didn’t translate into a good dish. It was salty and the parts didn’t come together on the plate. The meat was also not great quality.

Professional and friendly service. Bit of a retro room. Food good but not great-high marks for creativity. Monkey bread and pastas highlights. Chowda low light. Service a little slow and at 100$ per Pearson with tip (one drink a piece) not great value for money for what it is.

I took two colleagues to Café Mars for a business dinner. The comfortable booth salons with the sensitive and attentive service allowed us to talk freely. The drinks and food were off-the-charts fabulous. They made the business discussions that much more fun and productive. We started with 3 “snacks” … pizza slice anchovies, antipasto bomb and inside-out Chicago beef. All three were flavorful, amazingly creative and wonderfully presented. These bites complimented the cocktails, including the deeply flavored Giardiniera martini. Indeed, since the Giardiniera is a key ingredient in the Chicago beef snack, the match was downright perfect! The chefs and bartenders sure work well together. Our three pastas were equally inspired, including the lemony curls, the Genoa tuna waves, and the more traditional Brooklyn Sunday gravy … but with triangle-shaped penne and meat cubes, instead of balls! A modern pivot! We finished with the deconstructed Philly pork sandwich. The flavors were right out of the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia, but the careful execution and beautiful presentation made them pop! It couldn’t have been a better dinner! Thank you, Café Mars!

The food was out of this world! Mars's only 5-star restaurant :) Get the olives and the monkey bread - and whatever else you want, but at least those two things.

This place is such a gem - from the moment you get to the door, you can tell Cafe Mars is not your typical restaurant. The decor is colorful and vibrant; it just screams "walk in here and get ready to have a great time". The staff are warm, entertaining, and knowledgeable. I have had nothing but 10/10 service on all of my visits here. And of course, the food is fantastic. Chef Paul truly works wonders here. Run, don't walk to Cafe Mars!

This was our third visit and they really outdid themselves with their Feast of the Seven Fishes. Top notch service and accommodations, fun and pleasant atmosphere, and innovative dishes that blew us away.

This was our sixth time going to Café Mars and every time we go it’s the best meal we’ve ever had. It blows our mind how it keeps get better and better and there is honestly no other restaurant like it. The ambience is so cool and the food is Incredible.
