   We have stayed at captain whidbey’s twice and we love eating at the restaurant. Always a good time and the cocktails are nice.

   We had a lovely evening, delicious, well prepared food and drinks in a lovely lodge with helpful and attentive staff. Famly friendly, laid back, classy with great views.

   Such a classic old restaraunt and bar in a beautiful location. The food and service were excellent.

   We had a lovely time at Captain Whidbey. Our server Felicia was friendly without being obtrusive and recommended a mushroom croquettes small plate which was fantastic. Drinks were also good and the service was at a nice, relaxed pace. The sable fish prepared ala fish and chips was the best main we have shared in quite some time.

   Honestly, we were really disappointed with our experience tonight. I would go as far as saying that captain Whidbey is one of my favorite restaurants full stop and definitely one of our favorites on Whidbey. The property, the experience, the staff, food and drinks are all normally fantastic. But tonight was a real let down and was even worse as it was the night we chose to take some of our good friends for the first time. Service was just average, feeling fairly transactional versus the usually conversational servers. It was slow and we did not feel well looked after. The food was really poor tonight. Unseasoned brisket (which at $40 you expect to be phenomenal), dry salmon, gritty gnocchi, and the PNE board was much lighter stocked than usual. Do better please for all our sake!

   Great food though the menu varies and sometimes it’s more exciting than other times. But when it’s good it’s great. Service is always excellent. I don’t know where they find their staff but they are always a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend.

   Beautiful, unique property nestled in the wood on the bay shore. Great for a romantic evening dinner. Food is good but for the price point I expect a little better. That being said I would visit again.
