Carmel transports the energy, culture, and flavor of the renowned outdoor marketplace “Shuk HaCarmel” to Melrose Avenue, in the heart of LA’s food scene.

Using some of the oldest techniques in the world— a wood-burning oven, an open flame grill— chef Asaf Maoz interprets ancient Levantine cooking traditions through a modern lens.

Dishes showcase the best of the season: farmer’s market produce, sustainably-sourced meats and seafood, all prepared with the global culinary influence of the Tel Aviv shuk. Breads are baked in-house, including a 72-hour fermented Moroccan Frena, baked to order in the wood-fire oven.

After dinner, join us in the Jaffa Room** for exclusive access to the cash bar and live DJ. The menu, curated by Chef Asaf Maoz features an Amuse Bouche, choice of Appetizer, Pasta Course, Entree and Dessert in addition to Mezze for the table. Food was outstanding. Dishes were all unique, flavorful, and well prepared. Our server had major attitude from the start which started the meal with a bad tone and it got progressively worse throughout the night. It was clear she did not want to be there, and had a sarcastic tone that was borderline rude. Our entire table was uncomfortable speaking with her. She was not attentive and it was difficult to put in orders. We often had to put drinks in with other people, and she would get visibly upset each time.

The best restaurant in LA. They do everything right from the second you’re greeted outside to you’re brought to your seat. The food is next level. The mood is lively and energetic and you will leave there wanting to go back immediately. Save room for the best knafeh you’ve ever had. Shout out to Hunter for being the best waitress. Run don’t walk to Carmel.

Carmel always has friendly staff, incredible food, and great vibes - you can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but I strongly recommend the bread + the spicy platter as well as the kampachi crudo and the Jerusalem artichoke tortellini. One of my favorite places to grab dinner or a cocktail at in LA!

Beet salad was extremely salty, cocktails were not strong, couldn’t find the ice cream in the Sunday, moose was the size made for a kitten

Beautiful restaurant. A happening place. Great food & great service!!! The bread was the perfect starter! We shared everything we ordered. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Brunch was amazing. The selection of food was phenomenal. My party loved the jersalem bagel, red snapper schnitzel sandwich, and the bourekas benedict. Service was great too. 10/10 would recommend

Portion sizes were small and plates were expensive (but what’s new, it’s LA). We loved our Crudo and ceviche but everything else was fair at best. Nothing to write home about and for a two person dinner at almost $400, I was hoping for something more memorable. Also noting that the cocktails are all extremely sweet, even their freezer martini.
