Cured – The gastro-pub style restaurant, in the heart of the Pearl District of San Antonio, TX. Cured is endowed with a name that celebrates Chef Steve McHugh's successful battle against cancer, as well as the artisanal cured meats that are the cornerstone of his menu. The three-time James Beard Award finalist began his culinary journey on a small farm in Wisconsin and a vibrant decade in New Orleans. This position eventually led him to San Antonio where, with a new lease on life after beating lymphoma, he ventured out on his own to open Cured. McHugh's gastronomic foundation relies on the purity of natural regional ingredients and the hands-on unadultured methods that enhanced his own healing process. This from-scratch focus finds its way to seasonally dynamic menus of cured delicacies from the charcuterie to pickles.

    I was really excited to try this place. Been wanting to go for six years. It was such a disappointment. The charcuterie board is so tiny if you get the three ingredient one. Literally the ingredients you pick are all you get along with crackers and pickled green beans. There’s very little that comes on that in addition to what you select. We got the 30oz aged ribeye, and the filet mignon - asked for medium rare. It came out to us blue and raw. We had to send it back. By the time it returned to the kitchen the manager came out to apologize and assure us it would be cooked. Then our server came out and had to retrieve all of our silverware and replace it with new silverware bc it was a health concern and standard procedure. When we finally got our steaks, the sauce on top of it was burnt to a crisp. I’m talking crumbling charcoal all over the steaks, and it was still pretty rare. All in all, for the price it was so underwhelming. Management did what they could correct. But I won’t be wasting money there again.

    We had been here two years ago and had an amazing experience. Unfortunately the quality has dropped significantly. We were there on a Saturday night, the place was mostly empty, they were out of 3 dishes, the dishes we had were mediocre, and the server was much less knowledgeable than the one we'd had last time. I think the restaurant is probably on its last legs, which is a shame.

    Enjoyed our meal very much. Attentive service. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the cocktails and dinner menu. Great interior design. The Pearl district is amazing. Do not miss it.

    Server was great but food was not good at all. Hubby had short ribs which were fine but side dishes were too salty and my red fish pecan was very dry and overcooked.

    Such a good time! Chef Steve is so attentive and the experience is very personalized. He has a way with food that makes pairing you wouldn’t have thought of work really well. My girlfriend isn’t a fan of seafood, but he somehow made her like the catfish sliders. Would recommend 1000 times over to anyone visiting San Antonio.

    We were sat in some sad cold back room with a server who basically forgot about us. Charcuterie was not tasty, only had two cheese choices and was presented with lackluster effort - AND we had to ask for crackers or bread. Cool area but not worth the trip from downtown or the money.

    Loved our visit to Cured. We sat at the bar but still had excellent service. The bartender was very knowledgeable on menu choices and we took him up on more than one suggestion. Loved the smoked chicken gumbo soup, the empanadas and steak/frites. Great cocktails as well. We'll be back next time we're visiting San Antonio.
