Cured – The gastro-pub style restaurant, in the heart of the Pearl District of San Antonio, TX. Cured is endowed with a name that celebrates Chef Steve McHugh's successful battle against cancer, as well as the artisanal cured meats that are the cornerstone of his menu. The three-time James Beard Award finalist began his culinary journey on a small farm in Wisconsin and a vibrant decade in New Orleans. This position eventually led him to San Antonio where, with a new lease on life after beating lymphoma, he ventured out on his own to open Cured. McHugh's gastronomic foundation relies on the purity of natural regional ingredients and the hands-on unadultured methods that enhanced his own healing process. This from-scratch focus finds its way to seasonally dynamic menus of cured delicacies from the charcuterie to pickles.

    We celebrated a friend’s birthday at Cured. The event was very memorable as this was his first time there. The service was excellent and the Pan Seared Scallops were melting in my mouth. He had the Red Fish Pecan and was pleased with his dinner. He was presented with a candle lit birthday treat, which was a nice touch. We shall return again.

    Wonderful dining experience. The location is beautiful. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and the food offerings were wonderfully unique.

    Went to Cured for our anniversary. Tried some foods I’d never had. It was excellent!

    Unfortunate to review poorly but food was awful - salad was fine, steak was raw, quail legs were all bones, and sausage and black eyed peas was actually blood sausage and the vegetarian portion of that meal had bacon in it. Deeply regret. Limited menu. Perhaps if you are a deeply devoted carnivore you would enjoy.

    Good over all experience, charcuterie board was excellent they were out of short ribs, and lamb. Red fish and filet was ok.

    We had a small group for NYE dinner, and our experience was a disappointment. It seems like the restaurant was extremely understaffed for the night. Our server was amazing but she was completely swamped and managing several large tables by herself throughout the evening. The food was extremely slow to come out and drinks were even slower. For the price and overall experience, this was not worth it. I understand NYE is a special occasion, but the restaurant was underprepared for the amount of reservations they took. If the food had been amazing, it would have been less of a blow, but paying over $30 for 3 small scallops for a main course was the cherry on top for leaving a bad taste in our mouths.

    I was really excited to try this place. Been wanting to go for six years. It was such a disappointment. The charcuterie board is so tiny if you get the three ingredient one. Literally the ingredients you pick are all you get along with crackers and pickled green beans. There’s very little that comes on that in addition to what you select. We got the 30oz aged ribeye, and the filet mignon - asked for medium rare. It came out to us blue and raw. We had to send it back. By the time it returned to the kitchen the manager came out to apologize and assure us it would be cooked. Then our server came out and had to retrieve all of our silverware and replace it with new silverware bc it was a health concern and standard procedure. When we finally got our steaks, the sauce on top of it was burnt to a crisp. I’m talking crumbling charcoal all over the steaks, and it was still pretty rare. All in all, for the price it was so underwhelming. Management did what they could correct. But I won’t be wasting money there again.

    We had been here two years ago and had an amazing experience. Unfortunately the quality has dropped significantly. We were there on a Saturday night, the place was mostly empty, they were out of 3 dishes, the dishes we had were mediocre, and the server was much less knowledgeable than the one we'd had last time. I think the restaurant is probably on its last legs, which is a shame.

    Enjoyed our meal very much. Attentive service. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the cocktails and dinner menu. Great interior design. The Pearl district is amazing. Do not miss it.
