Went to Dean’s for the first time last Sunday - and immediately booked another reservation three days later. Outstanding experience. The Dover sole was cooked perfectly. The heirloom tomato salad was delicious. The real star was the creamed spinach. Normally not a fan, but my buddy ordered it and I will have this every time now when I come back - which will be frequently!

The ambiance at Dean's was exceptional, thanks to its unique location inside the historic old German school, which is seamlessly connected to the extraordinary Kimpton Santo Hotel. Our server was outstanding—knowledgeable, attentive, and spot-on with recommendations for our table. I thoroughly enjoyed my bone-in steak, which was perfectly marbled and cooked to perfection. I couldn’t resist picking up the bone and savoring every last bite when my guests weren’t looking—it was that good. While the bone marrow appetizer fell short of expectations, the fresh bread and salted butter more than made up for it. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. Dean clearly takes great pride in his steaks, and while the prices are on the higher side, the quality makes it worth every bite and penny.

We consider Dean’s Steak & Seafood one of the best in downtown San Antonio!! The atmosphere was amazing, the service by Nick was by far the best in the business!! The food was outstanding!!! You need to try your steaks with the Bone Marrow butter was delicious! The drinks were great!! We highly recommend trying Dean’s !!! The Lozano Realty Group! Robert & Josie Lozano!!!

We went for a 7:30 dinner on a Friday. The parking situation is really tough with valet that’s slow managing traffic between two hotels. The service, once seated, was quick and efficient. Really liked our server, David. He was really professional and looked after us well. The real challenge is the food. The seafood apps (Crab Cake and King Crab) were decent but the mains (Dover Sole and Jumbo Lobster Tail) really were disappointing. Overcooked, dry, lacking seasoning. The wine selection was good but the cocktails were subpar. For a meal that was over $350 for two people, it just didn’t deliver. We both felt off by the time we got home from the food.

We had such a great experience the first night of our stay that we cancelled the dinner reservations we scheduled earlier. We travel and eat out often and we love the ambience, the music, the cocktails and the food is over the top. The eggs Benedict for breakfast was excellent. Most of the menu items are handcrafted! We had 4 different servers at 4 different meals and they were all great! They were friendly and very knowledgeable not to mention highly professional. FABULOUS !
