Set in the heart of downtown Redwood City, Donato Enoteca offers true and honest contemporary Italian cuisine from Executive Chef Donato Scotti that changes weekly determined by the freshest available seasonal produce. Homemade pastas, wood-burning oven pizzas, meat and fish courses are available, executed in an authentic yet modern way. The menu spans every region of Italy and incorporates artisanal products, such as fresh imported burrata, prosciutto, grappa and olive oil. Other in-house specialties include sausages, mostarda and lamb prosciutto. The wine list focuses on smaller-production boutique wineries from Italy, California and France.

Not what it use to be, the food quality has gone down a lot, I known it was Christmas Eve, but it should have been better. My branzino was dry and it was a small portion, the grilled calamari and fagioli were all fagioli (bean) and about 3 pieces of calamari. The polenta and mushroom was better. The short ribs were moderate and the warm chocolate cake was more like a cupcake.

Donato Enoteca is one of our most favorite restaurants and we come here on special occasions. Everything about our experience here is top tier - the food, ambience, and service. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous - rich colors, textures, warm and inviting. Beautifully decorated - each table setting is perfect - this adds so much to the dining experience. We started with an insalata invernale - the cinghiale was the star! We ordered the Bigoli e Coda - oxtail pasta with asparagus- always our favorite - absolutely did not disappoint- yum! Last but not least- we had the Cioccolatto Fondente e Nocciole with vanilla gelato - superb! Mille grazie Donato’s!

Amazing food and service. Pasta was cooked perfect, al dente. Cocktails and wine list was equally great too. This place will be my go to Italian restaurant in the Bay Area for sure.

Our waiter Fernando was outstanding and helped make our meal fantastic. This is our first visit and now Donato is our favorite in Redwood City
