Beautiful restaurant with very courteous and knowledgeable bartenders. The food was very good however the service was mediocre at best. Our waiter basically came to our table, no personal introduction and immediately asked us if we were ready to order? What? Did they intend for our party of 4 to only be there for a 1/2 hour? Also, we were seated close to a patio where it was fifty some degrees outside but they apparently insisted on catering to one couple who was out there. Make no sense to me as it was a constant draft during our entire dinner. Overall, the food outweighed everything else and may or may not come back. Well, maybe just to eat at the bar!

Food, as usual, was well prepared, fresh, and good tasting. The service was not great. We waited a long time for our drinks and the food was served out of order. A bit overpriced when compared against comparable restaurants in the area. Overall, the restaurant tries hard, but they need to work on their consistency.

Thank you so much for your honest feedback. We have a new menu coming out tomorrow and it has specifically been designed for higher level of consistency. We do source our products from 13 different local farms and therefore it is a little more expensive, but we feel the quality is far superior. Fabulous restaurant! the food was delicious from the hangar steak to the salmon..all cooked to perfection! When we first got there the restaurant was a tiny bit loud, but got better when a large table left! Loved it!!!!

The Downtown Grille truly sets the bar high for Winston-Salem dining! From the moment you walk in, the ambiance is refreshing and inviting—perfect for a memorable meal. The steak was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and paired beautifully with wines expertly recommended by the knowledgeable staff. Honestly, I can’t imagine why anyone would choose Ryan’s when Downtown Grille offers better service and superior food quality at a similar price point. If you’re looking for an unbeatable dining experience in Winston, this is the place to be!

We had a great experience at Downtown Grill. Our server, Andrew, was attentive and gave excellent recommendations. The tuna sashimi appetizer was refreshing with a spicy kick, and our main dishes—Gemelli pasta and Joyce Farm chicken breast—were flavorful and perfectly cooked. The banana pudding for dessert was the best we’ve ever had. The drink and wine selection was impressive, with ideal pairings for our meal. A few minor downsides: the noise level was a bit loud, the lighting was quite bright, and the restroom was a bit of a walk. Additionally, while we enjoyed the meal, the starter bread didn’t feel worth the extra charge, as it was nothing special—many restaurants would offer something more memorable as a complimentary item. Overall: Delicious food, excellent service, and a great drink selection. Highly recommend!

Nightly special was sheepshead, which was very good. One person had the pork chop and iceberg wedge, one had salmon, one had chicken. All were very good and no one could eat dessert. Alex took very good care of us. WE will definitely come back soon.

We had a wonderful experience, and the chef went out of his way to accommodate my no-seed oil request. The food was superb, with super fresh ingredients!! Our server went beyond our expectations. She was an oenophile and made brilliant food and wine suggestions. It was such a memorable meal. We cannot wait to return:)

Excellent appetizers and service. We ordered the Szechuan chicken appetizer and the bread service, which were both delicious. The Brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes were also exceptional. The entrees were good, but not as much of standouts as these.

First timing dining at the Downtown Grille and we had a wonderful experience. The food was amazing. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and as we requested. Our server was incredible too. He was attentive and personable. The view from the restaurant of the downtown scene at night was beautiful (we dined at 8:45). Would definitely recommend the restaurant and we will be back. Even though the restaurant can get a little noisy, to me it's just a sign that everyone is having a GREAT time!😀
