People come from near and far to eat, drink and bliss out at Scottish Thistle Award winning Drift, a unique coffee house with breathtaking views over unspoilt miles of Firth of Forth coast and the Bass Rock. Drift is perfect for walkers, cyclists, day trippers and tourists (we’re half a mile away from Tantallon Castle) and very popular with locals too. Everything is freshly made, and, as a farm diversification business born out of a passion for food and drink, we love strengthening the connections between the land, sea and the table.

    Lovely place. We walked along the coastal path from north berwick (which is a gorgeous walk) and had a very tasty lunch here. Service was nice and good choices. Recommend.

    I have been a few times now and it’s worth a visit just for the stunning views and coffee & cakes, however the food has been a let down on each visit. It can also be extremely chilly and I didn’t remove my coat fully on this occasion. We had French toast and the venison flatbread. The French toast was presented beautifully but it was dry, as if it had not been soaked long enough to produce the squidgy interior I would expect. The venison was dry and thicker than expected. It was only just lukewarm so the dish was lacking in both moisture and flavour. The service was quick and friendly but sadly as an eatery it just didn’t warrant more than 3 stars.

    Drift never fails to deliver - from the warm welcome when you arrive (even when extremely busy) the amazing view from inside the cafe to the delicious food on offer. We are lucky to stay a short drive away so can visit regularly - and we do! The Sunday between Xmas & New Year was always going to be busy & you should always reserve in advance - but it was still lovely to sit & look out at the Firth of Forth, Fife and the Bass Rock from the big windows. We had Turkish Eggs & the Venison Doner Flatbread - both delicious. No room for cake!

    We love driving out to Drift: the scenery on the way is excellent, and the view from their windows is epic. The food is also five stars, whether it’s a meal or one of their tasty cakes. It’s always a treat for us when we go.

    This has a spectacular location and understated facilities. Our Portobello mushroom burger was underwhelming. The full breakfast was excellent. The venison pastrami sandwich good. It took 50 mins to come post ordering - too long. The carrot cake delicious. The building is simple - I love that. Maybe keep the menu less complicated so that the kitchen can cope with the orders.

    We both had Sweetcorn Fritters with poached eggs which was delicious. Highly recommend going and charming staff. Will be back.

    Amazing service!! Drift staff were very accommodating and kind, we were running a tad late for our reservation and they checked in and made sure we still received our food! We had an amazing meal and felt very well taken care!

    Absolutely prefect. The views are beautiful, our table was in the perfect spot for three. Food was tasty and service was spot on. 10/10 will be back and would recommend!
