The grilled shrimp was dry and served with nothing else on the plate. All very spartan. Service was very amateurish but very nice staff. Seating was confusing. Dinner felt more like snacking. Needs tightening up in every way but great location and rooftop bar.

Superb evening. The food was excellent and the service from Ele was charming and attentive. He was really helpful in accommodating a food intolerance and the chef brilliantly executed the request.

El lugar muy acogedor y bien ventilado con las ventanas abiertas, por la noche, se pude platicar con gusto! Las bebidas de lo tradicional muy bien! El menú en la planta baja no es el mismo del roof, no se permite combinar las comandas en los niveles del lugar!

This is my 6th time dining at El Remate and as always, it did not disappoint. While I’ve enjoyed every visit, it is not unusual for a new restaurant to take a minute to find its stride. I’m happy to say they are better than ever and delivering on that important convergence of amazing food, great energy, beautiful aesthetic and consistent service. El Remate is giving something special and I’m very glad to have them in Merida! Extra tip: If you have a chance to sit on the rooftop terrace at night, please do, it’s a magical spot!

Not happy with the meals. most likely will not be coming back. Waiter was good and helpful but food was not what we expected and some items listed on the menu were not available.

After joking earlier in the day about those “best whatever I ever had” declarations of Trip Advisor reviewers, my friend made his own when he tasted the Caesar Salad at El Remate. All the food here was fabulous, especially (speaking for myself) the Pork Belly! We’d met our friends outside the restaurant an hour before our reservation and were looking for a nearby place for drinks, when we were approached by a gringo who asked if we needed help with anything. I didn’t think so and kind of turned away, but my friend explained our need of a bar. The gringo pointed inside, but friend said we had a reservation for dinner but wanted a different place to grab some drinks first. The guy pointed out the dive bar just down the block. We said that will do and turned to go, but he reached out to shake hands and mention his name (Shawn). The dive bar perfectly matched our need, then we returned for our reservation. Ordered food, took our first bites, and had just begun our exclamations about how fine the food was when, out of the blue, Shawn, now inside, approached our table, asking how we liked the food. Turned out, he was the owner! New Yorkers, he and his wife, during Covid, had decided to junk their lives’ trajectory and moved their two small children to Merida, starting fresh in the restaurant business. Obviously, they’ve found their grove! Top quality food and excellent service. Ambiance was so pleasant…quiet and a nice cross breeze. Rooftop bar (El Gato), opens at 7:00 and the pizza auxiliary (Pizza Neo) is next door. It was our last night in Merida, but our friends will be going back for more. Check it out. You won’t be disappointed.
