    A warm welcome from the staff on arrival, attentive throughout the meal which was fantastic, but then felt a bit forgotten about once we finished dessert and had to wait a while before asking for the bill. A minor annoyance but it seemed there were a few in the same boat, however will be going again as the food was lovely.

    We came to Ember for our Sunday lunch today. From entering the door we were made to feel so welcome by the staff. There were 5 of us in total including my 11 year old niece and 1 year old daughter. They got a highchair straight away and gave my little girl something to play with. This made me relax instantly as taking a 1 year old out for lunch can be daunting, but they clearly welcomed children. The drinks were fabulous, we had wine and beers and all were lovely. The Sunday lunch was amazing. The portions were huge and the vegetables were delicious. We had a mixture of turkey, beef and lamb. One of the managers heard me say that my dad would be jealous of the beef as he had ordered turkey and he came out with a small plate of beef just for my dad to try. Touches like this make such a difference. They were all so lovely with all of us and the food was amazing. We have all talked about it for the rest of the day. Outstanding service and exceptional food. Well done Ember! We will definitely be back. Thank you for being so amazing with my daughter, I wish all establishments were like this.

    First visit here. Had Sunday Roast which was exceptional. Service was first class, efficient waiting staff and served very quickly. A 5* dining experience.

    The food was amazing, staff were absolutely great, and the venue is lovely. The dining area around the corner overlooking the river is a really nice, chilled and ambient environment - well worth asking if you can go in there rather than the main dining area if you're able to.

    We had a lovely meal, great service and plenary of choice for the vegetarian member of our party. Nice menu choice and wine selection.

    Excellent service - the food was very tasty and well presented. The restaurant deserves to do well as the staff are very keen to ensure you have an enjoyable experience

    Went on evening of 23rd Dec. Looked fully booked, I would recommend booking. Atmosphere was great, liked that couples have seeing around the corner with river views. Obviously was dark but still a lovely space. Both owners are very friendly and personable, nothing is a bother. Waitress only took one starter down instead of two. Might be an idea to repeat the order back. The owner was very attentive and sorted the other starter out. The steak tartare was amazing, the wasabi was just right. Chicken schnitzel wit veloute was very tasty. We em were too full for desert as also ordered sides of fries and green beers, 2 bottles of sparkling water and two glasses of red wine. £107 without service charge. We tipped separately. Quite expensive, but a special treat. Would definitely recommend and go in the future. It was our anniversary and got a little chocolate treat, which was a nice personal touch. An excellent addition to Sunderland food scene. Wish the owners and staff all the best !
