Nestled between East Austin neighborhoods, Este celebrates fresh seafood, Mexican cuisine, and charcoal cooking. From the team behind the East 6th favorite, Suerte, Chef Fermin and restaurateur Sam Hellman-Mass are taking their love for masa coastal.

In a location with a rich history, Este’s bright dining spaces, artisan decor and spacious outdoor deck bring the energy of seaside towns to East Austin. An extensive wine list and vibrant coastal-inspired cocktails are the perfect pairing for aguachiles, ceviches, oysters y otros mariscos!

Van de OpenTable-redactie: From 2024 James Beard semifinalist and acclaimed Suerte chef Fermín Núñez, this chill seafood spot is all about mariscos—think shrimp aguachiles, tuna tiradito, and oysters splashed with salsa negra. The light and airy space features white rafters and hanging plants, and happy hour spills out onto a big back deck. All of it landed Este on Bon Appétit and Esquire’s best new restaurant lists in 2023.

    Delicious seafood. Andrew our server was very knowledgeable and had great recs. We had a large party of 8, the patio seating was perfect.

    Incredible fish tacos! Honestly they were the best fish tacos I’ve ever had. We will be back!

    Loved the chips and salsa (both red and green), guacamole, crispy tuna tacos, and the fish tacos. Cachetada tacos were also great! The enchiladas were very flavorful. The tortilla soup was more like tomato soup with fish. I still liked it for a chilly winter afternoon but not sure that I would order it again. The chocolate cake was delicious!! Really liked the vibe and the service!

    Delightful place to have lunch, although not early (it opens at noon). Tamarind margaritas are great and everything was top-notch delicious, especially the ceviche.

    The chef came to our table and let us try a little tuna treat. Our server was attentive and kind. We also loved being there on the record Tuesday and created an amazing vibe for NYE! All the food was delish!

    Our last and most memorable meal of the year! From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed by the kind and beautiful ladies at the host stand. The staff had been made aware that we were celebrating a big anniversary and many offered their heartfelt well wishes for the occasion, the whole evening felt like a celebration of love! Our server, Luke, took was caring and patient as he accommodated our various dietary restrictions and needs. Luke shared vivid, mouthwatering descriptions of the dishes and drinks we were about to enjoy, and, of course, the dishes themselves were almost too beautiful to eat — there is a team of masterful artists working in that kitchen! The crisp night air and warm ambiance of the patio enveloped us, and we were charmed by the sweet anecdotes shared by staff members throughout the evening, as well as the jubilant sounds of laughter and merriment from fellow diners. It felt nothing like the usual transaction of eating out — it felt like being lovingly fed by a dear friend in their own house. Emilio the manager went above and beyond at the end of the evening by playing our song for the whole house to hear. We left nourished, feeling cherished and gay as we strolled through the moonless garden fragrant with the fresh blooms of zinnias, passionflower and cosmos. Yes, we drank and dined and enjoyed with all of our senses, and are still reveling in the joy from an evening where we more than just fed, we were cared for. Thank you, Este.
