In 1959, Frank and Tina D'Ambrosio decided to start a new restaurant venture along with their "Paisans" Mario and Enza Volpe, after Frank had much success with his first restaurant, the original "Frankie, Johnnie, and Luigi Too! In Mountain View, CA. Named after a good friend of theirs, they opened the original "Giorgio's" in the Foxworthy Shopping Center in San Jose, CA. One year later, cousins Anthony and Louise Dambruoso, affectionately known to the family as "Sash and Lou", took control of the restaurant and ran it for the next eight years. Pictures and paintings of these folks still grace the walls of the establishment today. In 1968, Frank's four sons assumed control of the restaurant and still own and operate it to this day. In 1997 they opened a second location in Milpitas, CA, where they still offer the highest standard of quality food, service, and value to their customers. Bon Appetit!!

We were seated quickly. But waited a while before the server made first contact. Order was taken and appetizer served. Server returned and advised they were out of big Shells meal. Had to choose alternate menu item. Meal arrived and I did not like the alternate dish and did not advise server. After meals received, I realized we did not get bread for the table while other guests did. Asked server and said they ran out while other guests had theirs. Finally received bread and remaining meal and dessert was good. While my meal was lacking, my quests enjoyed their meals.

When I checked in promptly for the reservation. The host asked table or booth? I was caught off guard. First of all, hello to you too. And I said table so he had the waiter come and guide us to our table. We asked for 2 strawberry lemonade and a regular lemonade. He brought us an extra regular so we decide to keep it. But that’s a $4 drink that we didn’t want in the first place. Host was a bit unprofessional and the waiter is nice but we are a party of 5. Should be simple to get out drinks right. I guess we’ll order takeouts from now on.

Wonderful tasty entrees. Spinach salad was fresh and plentiful. Lasagna had a good ratio of sauce to noodles - making it moist and meaty.

Service was good & very quick. Our table was next to the kitchen, so that was a little loud with all the slamming trays. Most at the food was excellent. Cheesecake was delicious. The only thing that I would rate a D on is the house salad. You could tell they’re premade because I didn’t want kidney beans and there were still some in there which showed that they just tried to pick out as much as possible. Salad lettuce was wilted and old vs fresh & crispy. This has been a problem for a few years so I think going forward I’m going to tell them no thank you on the salad that comes with the meal. Celebrated our anniversary and they really don’t do anything special to recognize that except for well wishes but it was still a great evening and I’d recommend it.

I rated the food as a 5 but the dessert was a 2. I ordered the Gelato, and it was melted when served, as was the ice cream that came with the Lava cake. We asked the server and he said, it's always served like that (referring to the Gelato). It tasted gritty and old. When I told him how bad it was, he seemed to think I was joking. I told him please remove the charge from the bill. He brought the bill and the Gelato was still on it. I asked a second time and he said "you wanted it removed?" "yes, really". Other food as always was fabulous. Our table was right by the bar, so whenever a blended drink was made we had to talk over the blender running. They need to put a damper on the blender. It was bad. Server seemed to be in a rush. We were waiting for about 5 minutes for 2 people to join our party, and he knew that, and he asked if he could take our food order. Again, as always food was Excellent.

Pizza is excellent, pasta dish was very good also. Service a bit slow.

Giorgio's never disappoints! It's a true neighborhood gem, where you can sit and enjoy conversation with your dinner companions. And the food is good old-fashioned American Italian. I've never brought a guest to Giorgio's who didn't rave about the food. Some of my guests have asked for off-menu combinations, and so long as they have the ingredients and it's not terribly busy, Giorgio's chefs are glad to oblige. As for me, I have the lasagna every single time I go there - it's that good!
