Bienvenidos, y'all!

Inspired by long days on the Gulf, late nights on the ranch and the colorful creations of our abuela, our family's Kitchen & Cantina showcases the rich foods and traditions we grew up with on both sides of the border. Nothing matches the flavor of food grilled over mesquite. Try wood-fired Texas quail swaddled in homemade tortillas, jalapeno rellanos stuffed with house-made chorizo and sizzling, family-style parrilladas - huge mixed platters of wild game and fresh vegetables, topped with pico de gallo and queso fresco - a unique spin on Houston barbeque. Our days begin roasting chilies and tomatoes, rolling fresh tortillas in our bakery and wringing every last drop of Ruby Red grapefruit for cocktails. We hand-grind our own sausage and hand-trim every ounce of meat in our butchery, then anoint it with the savory seasonings and marinades we've honed over generations. A few margaritas on our patio and you've found your new casa sweet casa.

Our server Carlos was great! He suggested a perfect tequila to pair with our meal and everything was delicious. This place is definitely worth coming to and the prices were not over the top. The music was loud enough to drown out the voices of other tables, but low enough that we didn’t struggle to hear our server or have conversation at our table.

Always enjoy this restaurant. Staff and service is excellent. Took someone who had not been here before and they were very pleased. On the way out, a young man was cleaning the glass panes of front door at 9:30 - impressive. He also responded with "hope you had a great evening!"

We always enjoy our trip to the Heights location - we make regular visits. A convivial atmosphere with a fun layout (getting better with the patio improvements underway), and a positive consistency in the food. The salsa is one of the best in H-Town - a warm roasted flavor. The beef and chicken (smoky taste) are always very good and cooked to our order. The drinks are very good and always made to order as well, along with the margs being consistently excellent. BUT, what makes us thrilled to go back are the people there who greet us with smiles and plenty of joking around with us, while providing top-notch service. Edson, Jorge and Veronica are absolutely delightful and make it a wonderful experience. Edson has looked out for us since it opened - he's the rock. Jorge's smile and laughter make the meal. Veronica's banter back and forth make for crazy fun. Take care of them, Levi!
