Grand Banks is a celebrated oyster bar aboard a historic wooden schooner. Named “Absolute Best Waterfront Dining in NYC” by New York Magazine and “Best Outdoor dining in NYC” by The Village Voice, Grand Banks features a concise menu of wild-caught and sustainably harvested East and West Coast oysters, ingredient-driven seasonal plates, nautically-inspired cocktails, and crisp summery wines and Champagnes. Great lunch date with my 6 1/2 year old twins. They had the day off from kindergarten and I thought they would enjoy having lunch on a boat and they certainly did!!!! They both said,”best French fries ever!” Neither asked for an iPhone or iPad. Alex, our server was awesome!!

This is a good concept, however a few things to consider. The boats rocks back & forth, sometimes badly, if you are queasy this will affect you. It’s also very close quarters. If you value space, this isn’t the place for you. Lots of activity & noise due to the bar area being overly packed. If it’s hot, you may roast in the sun, although there are some shaded areas. The food & drinks are way overpriced!! Ordered an iced tea, took 2 sips, didn’t like so asked if I could switch for a Diet Coke. They were happy to oblige, without indicating they would not only charge me $6 for the tiny glass of coke (which didn’t even hold a regular can’s worth), but they would also charge $5 for the iced tea that I didn’t like or drink. We spent over $120 on 2 sandwiches, 1 glass of wine & 1 Diet Coke. Not worth it! If you value your money, this place is not recommended.

It was my friend 30th birthday and it was lovely sunny day. Beautiful people and great experience. We’ll definitely come back!

When I got here, the entire boat was packed. You are literally on a date with a bunch of other people from the seating to the bar. When we sat down we were greeted by a friendly waitress and our dining neighbors. The oysters were delicious! The drinks were sooo good. However, we ordered food and it took some time to come out. My date and I started to get really sea sick so we needed to get off the boat ASAP. The restaurant wouldn't serve our food to go. They just don't do it they said. So with that, we left. I wouldn't recommend this place. It is extremely pricey and if you get sea sick and need to leave they won't give you your food. Luckily we weren't charged.

Wait time for a server to even come offer us water was 30mins and it should not take me asking for a server to finally be recognized. Quality of food is subpar for service to be so unprofessional.

Everything is always aces at Grand Banks. It is a neighborhood gem. Sorry to see the winter come.
