Great ambience. When ordering the whole Peking Duck we would expect to get the entire duck rather than shavings of skin

I was very disappointed as we were not invited to dine in the main dining area. Instead, we were shoved out near the bar, behind a wall and on our own, 'out the back.' Can't believe the staff would do this to a paying customer. I did say something at the end of the High Tea, but the staff were completely oblivious as to how the lack of atmosphere might spoil the dining experience. The quality of food and service did not make up for the very average treatment we received as paying guests. Unimpressed!

No doubt services was top notch, we were greeted with friendly and full of smiles staffs. Our glasses are constantly topped up with water. We were here for the peking duck and without doubt it was fantastic crispy skin and thin layer of pancake. A little side note would have been good to ask if we would like to assemble our pancake and duck ourselves as this is all part of the fun! Also we would be able to cater it to our taste bud in terms of how much sauce or spring onions to include. As my second serve was just full of hoisin sauce. The other fantastic dishes were the truffle fried rice and sweet and sour pork with lychee. The other 5 dishes were lacking in seasoning/taste, we had in total 8 dishes. Especially the the pepper steak, the corn flour taste was so prominent. Even the steam fish was a bit tough and lots of little bones even though it has been deboned prior to it being serve. Overall I do recommend the peking duck, is really the services and ambient that made this stand out.

For a Chinese restaurant, it is a very trendy and shabby chic restaurant. Then serving out good quality food, what else can you ask for a good night out.

Wow, food was delicious and large portions. Had to take leftovers home it was so good. Would have given five stars for everything but there is no such thing as perfection is there. Service was great and efficient. Very happy we chose the Grand Orient.
