Just off the main drag in increasingly happening Healesville, this subterranean bunker wouldn’t be out of place in the city. The building is one of the most striking in town, a collection of warm blond wood slats standing to attention like a bundle of matchsticks, and inside it’s a contrasting mix of genres and textures.

The recently revamped Modern Australian menu from ex-Easy Tiger chef - Jarrod Hudson features generous plates and rich flavours at great affordable prices.

Herd is a fantastic restaurant - such a great find on our trip to Healesville. From the moment we stepped inside, the service was incredible. Beautiful ambience and delicious food - we both had their signature steak, and were not disappointed. We will definitely be back on our next trip!

Looked up best places to eat in Healesville as we had never visited before. Let me say we were not disappointed. The service was outstanding, food delicious and venue beautifully cooled on a very warm summers day. What a gem of a spot. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a great dining experience. 10/10 from all of us. Thankyou Herd.

Food and wine was terrific, consistently delicious, although limited options in the mains. Atmosphere not so good, seemed they were concerned with some large groups about to arrive. Did feel a bit rushed in our dining experience, as we were in and out the door within an hour. Efficient but not very relaxing.

The best place to get a great meal at Healesville. Not pretentious, the staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable. Food is always good here and this time we went on an open mic night. Great if you enjoy live music.

Seriously good food and service. Thai fusion done right. They took dietary requirements seriously. Of note was the calamari, lightly crispy on the outside and tender inside. I highly recommend this family owned and run business.

We had the Coconut steamed fish & the Veg Panang Curry. They were both wonderful, delightful flavours. Great sizes. Drinks including wine & beers were a great variety. We will be back.
