    The staff in the restaurant were all very pleasant but young, clearly inexperienced and poorly trained. Service was slow, several menu items unavailable. Food was typical pub menu stuff but slightly higher priced, average at best. There is nowhere within walking distance so it's a captive, transient clientele. The rooms and the breakfast were great, but avoid evenings here. The £5 car park charge for guests staying at the hotel does still apply.

    We had the set meal as part of the dinner bed and breakfast package. Choice was good and we couldn’t fault the food. It was extremely tasty and large portions too. Service was good. It was early on a Sunday evening and a little soulless but we weren’t there to party. Overall, very good.

    Food was good. Accommodating staff who put the rugby on and we had choice of seating area.

    The restaurant has a nice decoration, food we only tried what was on the overnight stay menu, it was acceptable. The service was very slow and disorganised, always walking around asking who ordered the dishes.

    Food was ok. Service was in different....but what really got me irked was coming down for breakfast the next morning to a big PAYMENT? next to my name and being asked if I had paid last night. Yes, yes I did. I had to come to the till at entrance to pay because me and my daughter had trouble getting anyone's attention from our table so after 10 mins decided to go up and pay. I've got the transaction on my phone which I showed the young lady this morning who then asked me to show it to her manager. I was more than a little offended that my honesty was questioned because people can't do their jobs to a sufficient standard and even more offended that I had to "prove it" to not one but two different people.

    Very easy to book through Open Table and quick to receive confirmation. Warmly received upon arrival and the service was quick and very friendly. The down side was the below average quality of the food. Two very simple dishes - chicken ceaser salad and fish/chips ordered - which took 25 mins to arrive. This could be forgiven is the food had been good but it was very much below par. Salad was very poor with watery dressing and just three croutons! Chicken was ok - but overall just not the quality I had expected in a premium hotel. The fish definitely gave the impression is was straight out of long term freezer storage. Hats off to the restaurant manager - after we gave feedback she was very decisive in her response and action - very impressed. The saviour of this visit was definitely the service and management team in the restaurant. They were on the ball and provided great customer service. The food needs special focus.
