We had a reservation for 3 and were not as impressed as we'd hoped to be with the food after a friend recommended Hyde n Chic.
1. We had a 5 course menu, some courses were better than others -- but it might be because of what we chose. Course 1: Beef Carpaccio or Butternut Bisque, both were excellent. Course 2: Palm Oil Butter Poached Maine Lobster, this wasn't as tender as we'd hoped. It was chewy, but the flavor profile was good, especially with the Palm Oil butter. Course 3: Wild Mushroom Strudel, this was flavorful and hearty but nothing amazing. Course 4: A4 Wagyu NY Strip Steak or African Spiced Veal Sweet Bread. Both of these were disappointing, we were looking forward to them as the main stars but the steak, while cooked to a nice medium rare, was not tender considering it was A4. The Sweet Bread was an interesting texture but the portion size for both was disappointing. Course 5: Hibiscus and Ghana Chocolate. The chocolate was good but we were thrown off by the amount of mint cream in it. It felt too overpowering with mint.
2. The service was decent despite the server being new, but she was clearly overwhelmed. Chef came around and greeted each table personally. We saw from previous reviews that the pace of food was very slow so we braced ourselves for it when we dined here. Our reservation was at 6:30pm and we finished by 9:00pm.
3. When we looked on OpenTable, we saw a dinner menu at $50 per person for 3 courses which we assumed was what we'd have. It was a little confusing to navigate what would be available because there were 14 menus on their profile. When we got to the restaurant, their 5 course tasting menu was the only option and we only found out at the end of the meal that it was at $170 inclusive of gratuity. It was more than we were expecting to pay, it might be helpful to have the price per person written on the menu or have their menu updated on OpenTable for what their current menu is -- but this wasn't a big issue, just inconvenient.

Following our conversation on January 4th, before you visited Hyde N Chic, I provided you with full details about our menu and pricing. As I mentioned during our discussion, the cost of $135 per guest reflects the menu items you enjoyed, not the $170 you referenced in your review. Additionally, the $50 three-course special was part of a limited-time community. i
I encourage future guests to enjoy the full experience we offer at Hyde N Chic, without preconceived notions about pricing, timing, or other factors that might detract from the food and atmosphere we’ve carefully cultivated. Our restaurant is a place where diversity, culture, and exceptional food are celebrated, and I hope this spirit is appreciated by all who dine with us.
