A bright, colorful Italian restaurant, Ideale is the modern version of a traditional Roman trattoria. It is "festive and boisterous...la vera cucina italiana." Ideale has been bringing Rome to North Beach for 30 yrs now with it's highly acclaimed chef, Maurizio Bruschi. Maurizio hails from 4 generations of Roman chefs, lovingly taught by his grandma, Serafina. The pastas & breads are all homemade & the ingredients are hand-picked daily. Zagat wrote, the "Italian fare is the real deal...one of the few no tourist eateries in North Beach.. excellent pasta & pizza..the service makes you feel like a friend..a delightful experience." We enjoyed a last minute dinner at Ideale, recommended by someone who lives nearby. We were thrilled with the food and the quiet, comfortable atmosphere. We had the fettucine, spaghetti with clams and the stuffed pork tenderloin special. All really delicious and perfect portions. We all had plenty to share with each other. Looking forward to our next meal there!

A perfect old school Roman-style Italian dinner in North Beach. We all ordered perfectly prepared handmade pasta dishes. Each was great. Began with grilled tender calamari and finished with dessert. Great and friendly service.

This was our first visit to Ideale and we were delighted! Many friends have enjoyed themselves at Ideale and it was highly recommended. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly and soon were enjoying warm appetizers and chilled Prosecco! My companion’s gnocchi was heavenly—light and fluffy and delicious! Some of the best I’ve ever tasted. My tortellini was likewise perfect. For dessert we shared a delicious tiramisu, and soon we were off to the theater where we raved about our delicious meal right up to curtain time! I hope we get back to Ideale again soon!

Never loses the charm and ambiance and excellent food. We miss Mauritzio but the remaining staff were all excellent. Keep up the good work!
