Il Brutto is a neighborhood Italian restaurant located in East Austin with an emphasis on classic, multi-regional Italian dishes. We had never heard of Il Brutto but had read that the food was good so we decided to give it a try for my son's 24th birthday. I was somehow expecting a "dive" but it was the opposite. The atmosphere is beautiful, very appealing from the moment you walk up. There were white lights outside and the inside decor was modern and warm. I had a reservation and we were taken right to our seat. I had a glass of cabernet blend that was very good, just what I asked for. My son tried the martini of the day. He loved it. It came in a very appealing display with a little baby carafe of extra drink to refill his glass. We got the burrata and tomato salad along with the "bread" (pizza dough) and the two together were magnificent. We probably could have stopped there. My son ordered the squid ink pasta. It was kind of strange but he liked it. (I wouldn't recommend it). I had the lamb ragu pasta and it was rich and delicious. Our meal was around $140 before tip, on the expensive side, but we were very happy with the experience and the food. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. Ovearall it was a great experience.

The food and cocktails never disappoints, but even though the service is always excellent I am always surprised by just how excellent! Recommend the martini of the week!

Third time. Appetizers great. Service was unpleasantly kind of rushed throughout. Noise level is always high. Gnocchi not quite right- pasty.

We recently celebrated my daughter's 23rd birthday, and the experience was absolutely delightful! Cora, our server, went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. She was attentive, friendly, and made the evening feel extra special. The staff were also incredibly accommodating with our last-minute changes to the reservation for a party of nine, making the process seamless and stress-free. Thank you to the entire team for making this celebration so memorable! We left behind my daughters cake for the staff to enjoy. I hope they enjoyed it. Highly recommend for special occasions.

Sitting at the bar, both bartenders took amazing care. The wine recommendations, the added dinner digestives, and the overall guidance through the menu made this an exceptional experience. Thank you to the manager Erik and to the incredible team for the recommendations on the heirloom tomatoes and pizza bread, followed by an incredible lasagna. But the after dinner amaros brought this experience from a 8 to a 10. Shout out Juan for introducing us to this place and continuing to bring exceptional service.

It was ok. We had the lamb ragu and lasagna. Wasn’t the best of either we’ve ever had but the outdoor seating was wonderful.
