Step inside Il Fornaio and take a culinary journey through Italy. Early mornings bring rustic, crisp crusted bread hot from the oven accompanied by the scent of fresh brewed espresso. During lunch and dinner hours, pastas and flavorful sauces simmer while meats and vegetables roast over hot coals. Bottles of wine from small, regional wineries are uncorked to complement the dishes, which have been crafted in the custom of Italy's chefs, bakers and homemakers. Il Fornaio means "the Baker" in Italian. This award-winning restaurant offers an authentic and unique Italian dining experience. Specialties include wood-fired rotisserie and grilled meats, poultry and game; house made pastas; pizzas from an oak wood burning oven; fresh salads and house made soups; a wide variety of desserts; and fresh baked bread made daily from scratch.

    Our food made us sick and the hostess weren’t helpful and we’re going to make us wait for almost an hour for our reservation time. Server was nice but $36 for pasta plate with added chicken is ridiculous and it was dry and make us sick. I’ve been going to here for years and it’s been slowly decreasing quality with food and service.

    Jen was our Waitress and was wonderful. This was our first time eating here. We were not disappointed! We were surprised at how busy/lively it was for a Sunday night. Both my husband and I would highly recommend!

    Both waitresses at the front were rude and not friendly. Scowled at us and not welcoming when I gave her my information from the reservation. Our waiter was ok. We stated no bacon but requested an add-on of chicken. The pasta came with bacon. I did not eat it. The beverages we ordered weren't correct and had to be replaced. Overall, our experience was negative. The Del Mar and Irvine locations provide better service.

    We have been here numerous times as the food, staff and views have always been amazing. Not this night. While the staff was incredible, the food was absolutely below their standard this time. My calabrese pizza tasted like shrimp when there is no seafood and the cheesecake was lukewarm and tasted very musty. $457 for my daughters birthday and it was very disappointing
