   Booked a table at 10:30 pm. When we arrived the hotel place was only half full yet we were seated at the back of the venue behind a pillar (most likely the worst seat in the restaurant). We were never asked if we were guests of the hotel (you’d hope that paying guests would have some allocated space to add to their experience of staying with you). People arrived throughout the evening, up to 12am and were directed to better seats, yet stayed for a single drink and left. I would have probably stayed longer, and spent more money had the experience been more positive. However, I left disappointed and will be unlikely to return to this venue. The service was almost none existent at one point I had to ask for more drinks - it felt chaotic and like there was nowhere near enough staff on shift.

   Lovely surroundings. Good service. It was very quiet for a lunch time. 12.5% service charge was added automatically to the bill which is a bit steep. I normally pay 10%. Food was good, but not outstanding. Prices are not particular cheap.

   No-one to greet us on arrival. Staff chatting at the bar. Asparagus and Prosciutto starter was very poor. The Prosciutto was as hard as a cracker. Hollandaise sauce was not good at all. Wife's sirloin steak was one of the best steaks we've ever eaten! Absolutely perfectly cooked. The double burger was simply fine. Quite a plain tasting well cooked burger with bacon so hard it needed to be removed as couldn't bite through it. We didn't bother with dessert as this was just an overpriced hotel restaurant. We came here for our 15th wedding anniversary and I'll be taking the wife somewhere else in the coming weeks. I certainly wouldn't describe this as ' a hidden gem in Birmingham'.

   As we were staying at the Grand we were looking forward to dinning here before seeing a show. However, the staff seemed in a daze, we didn’t appreciate being called ‘my lovelys’. The food was underwhelming & was more like pub food at higher prices ( our bill was priced incorrectly!). The food took an age to arrive & was underwhelming. Such a shame as the setting has so much potential.

   The worst food I have ever eaten, regardless of the price paid. The truffle chips I were given were rock hard on the inside but hot, like they have been microwaved instead of cooked. The lamp rump was at most OK, with the meat not having much flavour and being lukewarm/cold on the inside. The small side cheesy potato thing was the only good part of the dish. The drinks tasted like toilet cleaner and were borderline nasty. The service was non-existent, we arrived into a quiet restaurant and stood around awkwardly for 7 minutes before finding a place to sit ourselves. Mandatory service charge means you are forced to tip regardless of the service provided, if any. Will never be back.

   The food was incredible, the atmosphere was relaxing, welcoming and fun, the service was top notch. Overall we had an amazing time.

   Our waiter for the afternoon was very friendly & attentive. Friendly service from staff members I will definitely be returning.

    Excellent food, service and atmosphere, although it was very quiet at 1pm when we arrived, that said I can’t fault the venue, food or service, again, excellent.
