This would easily have been a 5 star rating if not for the parking situation (full valet w/very limited nearby options) on the night we visited. We finally got lucky and found something. By the time the evening was over, the food and service were so outstanding that we forgot completely about the stress in getting there and, believe me, that's saying something! We're definitely going back and bringing friends, though not during any busy days such as Valentines!

My wife and I were there for Valentine's day prefix dinner. It was excellent! Our waitress were so friendly and personable. And the food and drinks were fantastic!

food is good ac is very cold nobody is in the front, nobody.... you have to look for a manager and let her know that you are here.

Service was great, food was A-/B+, it was really uncomfortably cold via AC at the bar and in dining room. Special fries with meat, Karage chicken, and skirt steak were all really good, as well as the wine and cocktails. Mahalo! 🌺

Came here over the weekend with a large party and Jinala, Kennedy, and Sinclair took the best care of us!! Highly recommend and will absolutely be back

A gem. We were visiting Honolulu from Tokyo and looking for an izakaya. What we found was a modern take on an izakaya with a fusion kind of menu. The fusion part comes from a chef who is Korean, was born in Argentina, trained at the Culinary Institute in NYC, and now works in Hawaii. That explains, for example, the kalbi short ribs (yum). As this is an izakaya the plates are made for sharing and you’ll want to order a few plates per person. Everything we’ve had has been delicious. That said - I recommend started with the Miso Caesar Salad and some Edamame (you might want to have the spicy sauce on the side for the latter). Then maybe a Geisha Roll or some sashimi. And don’t miss the desserts. The atmosphere is very nice. Comfortable seating. Low noise level. Strong air conditioning. The restaurant is in the Romer House Hotel so there is parking and valet parking. There is also a nice bar for a pre or post meal drink. 855 Aloha was interesting enough to us that we went back a couple times. When we return to Tokyo we can find traditional izakaya everywhere but we won’t easily find a place like 855. Casual dress. Major credit cards. Very nice people.

was not seated for my reservation on 12/31. when we got to our reservation for 830 at 825, the already rude hostess with a tightly wound bun and wrinkled business casual attire said we would be seated when the last person of our party arrived and the only information she gave us was that they are holding our table for us. after giving her an ETA that’s when she gave us two policies that i did not find on my reservation and quite frankly is a contradiction of “stay longer…” on this opentable app: that there was a fifteen minute grace period for our table AFTER she ensured us our table was being held until our last person came AND that was a 90 minute timer per table. i looked on my reservation for both policies and found nothing. i’m okay with following policies, but most of our party was there and i was ready to pay money to give back to this establishment that i have been patronizing since the opening of it. i take all of my out of town friends here and even had my first date with my now boyfriend at the bar. so after she so miserably failed at mentioning two policies to us when we first arrived and now after waiting for ten minutes and giving her an eta of our friend that was only now less than ten minutes out, she refused to seat us. which is fine. it was her awful customer service and attitude that got me. i work at a global corporation in customer service management so ive guided many teams to provide great customer service even in the face of difficulty. hell i worked THAT DAY in waikiki myself providing a great experience to my patrons so i know what it takes. i empathize with service industry people. i train people on how to provide a good experience for our brand and if my worker did what she did to us, she would’ve been gone. we left cuz i am never spending my money there ever again, which is a shame because ive spent a lot of time there and loved it prior. went to appetito instead & dropped several hundreds of dollars there. it was great after!
