My friends and I were looking forward to dining here, however the actual experience was below average and not what would be expected from a fine dining establishment in Mayfair. The chutneys served with the poppadoms were mediocre, the lamb chops were slightly overcooked. Given that the lamb chops were marked as a Jamavar signature dish, they were evidently rather underwhelming. The bread basket with an assortment of breads was lacking in flavour, we were told that there was a kulcha paneer stuffed naan in there, however we were not given one. The prawn curry and lamb shank dishes were very flavoursome and stood out from the rest of the meal. However, the vegetable biryiani which we ordered as an accompaniment to these was tasteless. All our mocktails which we ordered were fabulous, however the Zesty Ruby could have done with slightly less jeera. The masala chai was lacking in flavour and tasted as if it were from a packet rather than freshly brewed, it perhaps could have been served with condensed or evaporated milk to make it more authentic. The cake was dense and tasted cheap, lacked any sort of pistachio flavour but the presentation however, was lovely. Our waitress was very attentive and her overall service was excellent. However, towards the end of our meal, we were asked 3 times within the space of 5 mins if we were still eating when it was quite apparent that we had not finished our mains yet. We felt rushed and uncomfortable and I have never experienced this in other fine dining restaurants before, so we were shocked to say the least. The decor in the restaurant and overall theme is beautiful, it’s disappointing that the food did not match. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this restaurant and would advise diners to visit restaurants such as Benares or Tamarind which are in the same vicinity and worth the money as you’ll have a much more favourable experience.

Very disappointed in their service presentation was poor seating was cramped for 5 in the downstairs boot no one took our coats temperature of food was bad for the price range of this this restaurant food was just average I would not recommend this restaurant

Great food! Every dish hit the mark! The Fish curry and tandoori octopus were exquisite. The only grouse was that we were rushed at the end to wrap up which meant we couldn’t really enjoy the desserts.

It was simply the worst dining experience. The servers were rude and clumsy. The mains were served before the starters. The dishes were placed on the table in the most uncouth manner ever. The food was, unbelievably underwhelming. Cramped restaurant with sub par interiors with disappointing food sums up Jamavar.

The restaurant gave us a shared table with other family, they should have provided us a separate table. The restaurant send us to a table in the basement and it was very warm and uncomfortable. We requested lamb chops to be cooked well done, however they brought it in medium cooked.

We enjoyed all our meals including the butter chicken. Our table favorite was by far the lamb chops. Our waiter was also excellent.

Beautiful location but they seated us in the basement that I was not too happy about. The appetizer were great but main course was just meh!
