Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

                                                                                                                      Poorly, poorly managed. Started with burned lobster bisque. Then, returned a steak because it wasn’t as stated and mostly fat and was told they would replace it. Instead, the Manager gestured to the waiter to return the plates to the table after re-firing them. Waiter tried to tell us they were new steaks so we returned them and our Christmas dinner was ruined. Asked to come back to give them a second chance and will do that, but Christmas evening with family is done and can’t rewind that night.

                                                                                                                      Exceptional service and food. The sommelier was helpful to find the right wine. The holiday decorations made it very special. Returning is something I look forward.

                                                                                                                      We visited La Grande Boucherie during Christmas day. - restaurant looked very festive and cozy. - live music - food 4 stars out of 5. Oysters were amazing. french onion soup was ok, but nothing special. I ate FILET MIGNON and it was really good. My husband had STEAK FRITES and said it was nothing special, not going to eat it next time. For the desert we ordered PROFITEROLES it was tasty and alot! Overall experience was nice, we will come back!

Highly recommend the cassoulet, be sure to order bread as well. The restaurant was well decked out for Christmas and the staff were attentive and kind.

                                                                                                                      Le Grande Boucherie is a beautiful place, however the service we received for overpriced mid food was extremely disappointing. I’m a tipper and really consider not tipping. This is my experience especially when those around my party of 2 received excellent service. I’m thankful for the experience but will not consider visiting again.

                                                                                                                      My 10oz steak, Steak Frites, was uneatable as was the lamb. The service and ambience were notably exceptional. We could get better for a lower price else where . We have been trying other restaurants for Christmas and Thanksgiving but as a family we want to go back to our reliable Maggianos. We love the architecture, and Christmas decorations. The French menu was unnecessarily complex. The dishes come out underwhelming based upon expectations presumed by the description, i.e., Profiteroles. We want you to be a great restaurant as your efforts are more than most.

                                                                                                                      After having lived in France for 23 years I was looking forward to Christmas dinner at La Grande Boucherie. I ordered a kir…the waiter didn’t know what it was. And when it came, it was obvious the bartender didn’t know what it was either. I got something like raspberry syrup in fizzy soda with a twist of lemon!! For main course I ordered cassoulet. The dish had very little resemblance to cassoulet except for the duck confit. It had potatoes in it and was topped with pickled onions and radish sprouts. But worse…there was a smallish square of packaging material in the bottom of the bowl, like brown bag or thin cardboard. The cabernet franc wine recommended by the waiter was nice. I ordered crème brûlée for dessert which was delicious. The waiter was very nice and apologetic. The bill was adjusted graciously. PS The restaurant is beautiful and the Christmas decorations were impressive. All it needs is a French chef and some soft French music.
